Atmia Publishes ATM Accessibility Recommendations
Atmia has published new international industry recommendations for maximizing the ATM user interface (UI) for about 2.4 million ATMs worldwide. Focused on recommendations regarding the accessibility, speed, operability, and security of ATMs, the manual shows how new interface technologies, such as tactile and multi-touch capabilities, biometrics and HTML 5, allow concepts usually applicable to mobile devices and tablets to be extended to ATM UIs. ATMIA has based the comprehensive set of new recommendations on inputs from deployers, software and hardware manufacturers, technical experts, processors, researchers and card issuers.
Infinea BluePad mPay Solution Launced
Infinite Peripherals, Inc. (IPC) today introduced the Infinea BluePad, a mobile payment solution that includes PIN entry, a contact chip smart card reader and a magnetic stripe reader with Bluetooth connectivity. Compatible with iOS and Android (OS 2.1 or higher), the Infinea BluePad can operate either as a stand-alone mobile device or as a companion to IPC’s mobile peripheral devices, including the Linea Pro® and Infinea Tab,® which work with Apple®’s iPod touch®, iPhone® and iPad®. The Infinea BluePad features a tactile keypad with 10 numeric and six functional keys, as well as smart card and magnetic stripe readers with three-track hi-coercivity bi-directional reading capabilities. One of the key differentiators that makes the Infinea BluePad product line versatile yet affordable is that IPC does not require a transaction or fee-based contract in order to acquire the device.
Diebold Installs Ground Breaking TouchScreen ATM
Mellon Bulgaria EAD payment solutions and outsourced services installed for Teximbank the latest Diebold Opteva® series ATMs. Running on Agilis software, the ATMs are equipped with the latest touch screen technology to replace the traditional screen tactile buttons and are the first to be installed in Bulgaria. This new ATM confirms the position of Mellon Bulgaria EAD as a technological innovator in this field. Opteva ATMs help financial institutions provide a level of service closer to a branch experience by enabling additional functionality including deposit automation, advertising and other advanced banking transactions, such as printing on passbooks to record consumers’ transactions.
Ingenico & TPG Ink Distribution Deal
Ingenico payment devices and services and The Phoenix Group (TPG) POS terminals and solutions forged a multi-year distribution agreement, enabling TPG to market and sell Ingenico’s next generation Telium series POS devices to independent sales organizations (ISOs). Emerging EMV chip-based, contactless, and NFC-based payments means both companies are making a strategic investment to offer the latest Telium POS technology and solutions to ISOs. Now TPG will market and distribute Ingenico’s complete Telium range of products including iPP220 & iPP320 PIN pads, iCT220 & iCT250 countertop terminals, and iWL220 & iWL250BL (bluetooth) wireless devices. In addition, TPG will house a swap pool of the Telium devices in an effort to provide the most comprehensive customer service and a timely response to customer service requests. As part of their repair and services, TPG will perform key injections and downloads.

Semtech Launches 4D controller, Integrates proximity and pressure
The newest members of its 4-D Touch family have been unveiled by Semtech. The SX8654/55/56/57/58 are ultra low-power 4/5-wire resistive touchscreen controllers with integrated proximity sensing and haptics control for driving motors. The feature-rich controllers also come with on-chip ±15kV ESD protection making them ideal solutions for a wide variety of handheld applications such as mobile phone, tablet, DSC, handheld GPS, automotive centre consoles, and POS terminals. Many devices use the proximity of a person’s hand or finger to activate features, such as waking up a system. The SX865X controllers are the first to integrate this proximity capability into a touchscreen controller to provide a single-chip solution for a wide variety of applications such as mobile phone, tablet, DSC, handheld GPS, automotive centre consoles, and POS terminals.
Visa Europe Introduces tactile cards for partially-sighted
Visa Europe in conjunction with Oberthur Technologies has developed a new card feature for blind and partially sighted to identify their Visa debit, credit and prepaid cards more easily to improve ease of card use for the nearly 2 million blind or partially sighted in the UK. Card issuers will now have the opportunity to offer a Visa card with a tactile mark – a clear raised varnish key line around the Visa Brand Mark – that enables blind or partially sighted people to distinguish their debit or credit card more easily from other cards in their wallets and aid positioning in payment terminals. With this, card issuers will also be able to introduce other design related elements on the card surface, enhancing the users’ identification of individual cards.
Datacard Improves Laser Engraving
Datacard Group has made available its new laser engraving module for the “Datacard MX6000″ card issuance system that exceeds the throughput and card security standards set by government agencies and financial institutions worldwide. This allows issuers of secure IDs or financial cards to engrave images, grayscale photos, bar codes, text and other variable data making forgery and alteration nearly impossible. It offers additional highly secure personalization features such as CLI (vertical tilted) engraving, MLI (horizontal tilted) engraving, tactile elements, and microprinting ” for identification and financial cards. It integrates with existing “MX6000” systems and is most commonly used with other system modules such as color printing, magnetic stripe encoding, smart card personalization and Datacard “DuraGard” lamination.
