Prepaid Mastercard provider Springbok has hired Ellen Kramer, Founder of NOW what?, as its SVP of Marketing. Kramer’s background consists of leadership positions in powerful marketing organizations such as USA Today, Time Life, Inc. and America Online (AOL), where she initiated, developed and ran AOL’s direct marketing efforts. Kramer will provide that same knowledge and assistance to Springbok Services, and will serve as a powerful resource for Springbok Services customers who want to reduce employee turnover, enhance sales incentive programs or build winning consumer promotions. Springbok Services is PCI certified for card processing.
VISA USA and the 48 Hour Film Project have teamed to launch the “Life Takes Invitational,” offering amateur filmmakers a chance to win a VISA prepaid card worth $10,000. Following 48HFP 2007 tour stops in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, a total of 30 teams will be invited to participate in the “Invitational” and will be asked to create a short film that demonstrates their interpretation of what “Life Takes.” VISA will provide the selected teams with a $500 gift card for production expenses along with travel expenses to San Francisco for two team members. In September, VISA along with a panel of entertainment and advertising industry experts will judge the entries. The grand prize winner along with second and third place winners, who will receive $5,000 and $2,500 respectively, will be honored during an awards gala in San Francisco.
VISA International announced the launch of its new TV commercial featuring Hollywood actor Richard Gere, currently being aired
in the Asia Pacific region. Filmed in India, the central theme of the new “Birds” commercial is the spirit of generosity and the giving spirit demonstrated through the ritual of
letting birds go free to bring good luck to a relative or friend
embarking on a journey, a ritual that runs across several different
cultures in the Asia Pacific region. Mumbai-based Ranjit Barot composed the music for the commercial, which was produced and developed by VISA’s advertising agency BBDO Clemenger, Australia with support and collaboration from Stratum Films of Mumbai. In Asia Pacific, 62% of all card purchases at the point of sale being made using VISA cards. There are currently 238 million VISA-branded cards in the region. In 2004, US$475 billion was spent at point of sale or withdrawn from ATMs in Asia Pacific using VISA cards.
Jodhpur in Rajasthan was the location for the filming of VISA International’s new TV commercial which features Richard Gere. The commercial will be aired across Asia Pacific. India will be the first market to go on-air in both English and Hindi on all major channels.
