Fifth Third Processing Solutions has acquired the assets of TNB Card Services from TX-based Town North Bank independent community bank, advancing its efforts to provide electronic payment solutions to credit unions and their members. TNB Card Services currently provides credit, debit, and prepaid cards, loyalty, consulting and ATM driving with a full suite of back-office services to more than 370 credit unions in 27 states and the District of Columbia. TNB Card Services becomes part of FTPS and is one of the payments industry’s largest providers of transaction processing and acceptance solutions for merchants, businesses and financial institutions around the world.
TNB Card Services, the electronic payments processor for credit unions, works with credit unions of all sizes to help develop and implement effective cross selling strategies. Moderate size credit unions that invest in employee training and cross-sell their card products within the branch can see rapid growth in the number of new card accounts acquired. For Harris County Federal Credit Union of Houston, an investment in employee training coupled with an in-branch promotion in mid-2009 paid off by boosting its new card accounts 383 percent over the same time period a year earlier. Working with TNB, the $100 million credit union created an internal campaign to encourage employees to proactively reach out to members, rewarding employees with $5 for every approved card application. For the $27 million Space City Credit Union of Houston, its MasterCard Madness internal campaign was designed to challenge its staff to double their monthly average of new card accounts.
TX-based Complex Community Credit Union has been working with card processor TNB Card Services, resulting
in a 13% increase in new card accounts.
The credit union developed and implemented a company-wide card product
training program. It created materials that compared the Complex
Community card to national cards and other local issuers. The training
materials also contained sales tips and hints on how to initiate
conversations about the card with members. The credit union initiated an incentive program designed to motivate and
reward employees to sell the card. Incentives were offered for three
months, with an overall goal of doubling the number of new cardholders
from 18 to 36 each month. The credit union more than tripled the target
of 120, adding more than 350 new card accounts in the three-month period.
Complex Community Credit Union serves 11 counties in
west Texas with assets of more than $240 million.
TX-based Resource One Credit Union has selected TNB Card Services as its electronic payments processing partner. The $300 million credit union will move its PIN and signature debit card processing to TNB, as well as tap TNBâs payments experts to develop a new credit card program for its members. For first-time cardholders, a âMy Life My Moneyâ branded card will be created, which will add to the credit unionâs product portfolio targeting members in the 18-to-34 age range. A Resource One branded credit card will also be developed for the credit unionâs general membership, plus an Executive Suite card targeting business members. Resource One will move more than 40,000 debit cards to TNBâs processing platform in order to improve processing efficiency, increase revenue, and mitigate risk. Resource One will also leverage TNBâs instant issuing capabilities to eliminate the need for cardholders to wait for their plastics.
TNB Card Services has signed a processing agreement with ND-based Town and Country Credit Union’s $4.5 million card portfolio.
The $210 million credit union is the third largest in North Dakota. The agreement includes TNB’s innovative “VIP CardStation” and
“VIP Portfolio Pro”, part of its “VIP Solutions” portfolio management tools. With these capabilities, Town & Country CU will be able to internally manage daily monetary adjustments, including fees, balance transfers, and routine cardholder account updates. Management will also have access to reports related to settlement, collections, and delinquencies; this will enable them to better evaluate card performance, identify revenue opportunities, and spot portfolio trends. TNB will also take over the management of Town & Country CU’s back office cardholder operations, allowing the credit union to offer 24/7 cardholder support. TNB will also work with Town & Country to develop strategic promotions, as well as offer “Rewards2U” for its Platinum cardholders, to drive increased usage and acquire new cardholders.
TNB Card Services has partnered with WY-based Western Vista Federal Credit
Union to develop a stronger credit card program. The $110 million, 10,500 member strong
credit union has entered into a seven-year agreement
with TNB to manage the processing of its credit card program. Using
TNB’s VIP CardStationTM and VIP Portfolio ProÂ®, Western Vista will be
able to easily update cardholder records as well as identify revenue
opportunities and portfolio trends that will enable it to proactively
manage and market its card program more efficiently.
TNB Card Servicesâ has launched the Advanced Marketing Portal to offer
credit unions the ability to
customize pre-designed promotional materials. AMP is free to all of
TNBâs clients and is designed specifically to help
credit unions efficiently and effectively manage marketing promotions to
attract new cardholders and grow their existing portfolios. AMP
eliminates the manual tasks involved
in creating and managing a card promotion. Credit unions simply login to
AMP through TNBâs secure client center website to enroll in a promotion
and begin designing promotional materials. As each custom element is
added to the promotional piece, the creative image is refreshed and
displayed on the userâs computer screen, making it easier to review and
approve creative materials. With AMP, credit unions can effectively
entire marketing campaign from start to finish â including enrollment in
a campaign, design of the creative, proofing and approval of creative
materials and monitoring the status of each step in the development of
MN-based Anoka Hennepin Credit Union has sought a TNB card-processing
partnership following its 2008 merger, after which the CU was managing
two separate credit card portfolios processed on different platforms.
The partnership with TNB is meant to help streamline card operations and
position the the $160 million credit union for growth. A TNB evaluation
has yielded recommendations for card products, pricing, and marketing
promotions that will give the credit union the tools to drive growth.
These recommendations include the “MasterCard Family Account” to reach a
larger member base and build a relationship with a memberâs entire
family and TNBâs “Design It! Photocard” personalization tool for
members. Anoka Hennepin Credit Union will convert approximately 3,500
card accounts with balances of $4.2 million to TNB to grow the portfolio
15% in new cardholders and balances within two years following the
TNB Card Services has renewed 16-year old agreements stipulating First
Data provide its credit and debit card processing services through at
least 2014. TNB offers payment card processing to credit unions across
the U.S. These services offer credit union clients payment card
processing, ATM terminal driving, and enriched card products that
provide extra benefits, features and rewards. TNB also offers portfolio
consulting, risk-based pricing tools and powerful fraud detection
systems while First Data provides remittance processing services to its
clients. TX-based TNB Card Services, owned and directed by credit unions
since 1976, serves more than 550 financial institutions of all sizes and
manages a total of more than 2 million cards.
Credit unions continue to nibble away at “Big Issuers” turf by now
offering card personalization tools. Dallas-based TNB Card Services
announced the availability of “Design It! Photocard” for all its credit
union clients. Each authorized user on the account can design their own
unique card. Users can upload, format, size and rotate pictures or
graphics. “Design It! Photocard” will receive full marketing support
from TNB in order to drive awareness and usage of the card
personalization tool. TNB says it offers an array of professionally
designed marketing collateral for credit unions to effectively promote
the new service to their members. TNB has more than 550 financial
institutions of all sizes and managing more than two million cards.
NJ-based XCEL Federal Credit Union of has switched its card processing
to TNB Card Services.
XCEL is in the process of changing over its 2,500 credit card accounts
As the credit union moves its program to TNB, it will take advantage of
portfolio consulting expertise, so it can determine the best approach to
its rates, rewards and marketing. XCEL Federal Credit Union, with
assets of more than $105 million and 15,000 members serves
primarily employees of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, as
well as a
number of federal government agencies. It has offices in Manhattan and
in Jersey City.
Following on the heel’s of the “Chase Sapphire” card, TNB Card Services has unveiled the “Onyx MasterCard.” Texas-based Texas Dow Employees Credit Union has teamed with TNB to offer the new credit card to its high end members. The “Onyx MasterCard” blends revolving and non-revolving credit, targeting members with credit scores of 720 and higher. A cardholder with a $10,000 credit limit can access up to three times the line of credit, for purchasing power up to $30,000. The first $10,000 is on a revolving limit, like a traditional credit card, in which the balance due can be paid in full each month, or revolve with interest. The remaining balance, or non-revolving credit, is due in full at the end of each billing cycle. In addition to cardholders earn up to two percent cash back for all purchases, including non-revolving transactions. TDECU has 120,000 members and more than $1.4 billion in assets.
