HID Global secure identity solutions announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted several patents for the company’s innovation related to gesture-based methods of using three-dimensional (3-D) motion sequences to increase privacy, security and convenience when using RFID-based devices such as smart cards and NFC-enabled smartphones for a broad range of applications. These patent additions strengthen HID Global’s IP portfolio of over 1,000 pending and issued patents and protect the company’s intellectual capital. The invention opens up a new field of gesture-based authentication and is particularly pertinent when incorporated into an NFC-enabled mobile phone. These user-defined, gesture-based passwords can also work in a two-dimensional mode similar to a combination lock, or they can also include 3-D motions such as moving to the left, right, forward and backward.
MasterCard announced mobile innovations and feature enhancements to Smart Data, including a new mobile receipt application that liberates corporate cardholders from the burden of filing paper receipts for expenses. The new Smart Data Mobile Receipt Capture App for iOS, Android and Blackberry users enables corporate cardholders to directly upload receipt images by taking a smartphone picture and attaching it to the transaction when filing their expense report, allowing cardholders to toss the dreaded paper receipt. MasterCard is also piloting a Mobile Fleet e-Receipt App to assist businesses and governments needing accurate and timely data to manage automotive fleets. The mobile fleet app allows drivers to visit any fuel merchant and enter the data required by their fleet managers, including the type and amount of fuel purchased, the price paid per gallon, the odometer reading, along with many additional features.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch for its global treasury management and online banking channel added its “CashPro Online” for commercial and corporate clients to perform routine transactions and make informed business decisions. This includes “CashPro Payments” global payments hub; “CashPro InformationReporting,” helping clients actively analyze and research their financial transactions and position; and “CashPro Mobile.” The “CashPro” spectrum lets clients initiate wire transfers, automated clearinghouse transactions and internal transfers, through a single application.

Providing an extra layer of payment security and helping meet PCI compliance requirements for spas and resorts, SpaSoft is a management and scheduling software solution for spas and resorts that now integrates with Merchant Link’s next-generation tokenization solution, which removes customer credit card data where it would be at risk from hackers. The combined solution helps reduce resorts, spas and health clubs PCI DSS scope.
