RBS Citizens Financial Group announced its online and mobile banking platforms for Citizens Bank and Charter One customers. This makes available person-to-person payments on the web and expanded mobile functionality that is now available to Android users in addition to iPhone users. The apps allow users to make payments, check balances, view account history and find a branch or ATM while on the go. With Popmoney and external account-to-account transfer functionality also now available to Business Banking customers, small businesses can improve their cash-management processes while monitoring their finances with a single view of all of their accounts.
Prepaid2Cash launched its beta website www.prepaid2cash.com, letting users exchange prepaid cards most commonly acquired through rebate programs, product promotions and holiday gifts for cash. Consumers can safely redeem their open loop prepaid cards for cash, select to receive cash redemption either through an automatic bank account transfer or mailed check. Once a transaction has been completed, consumers can expect fund settlement in 2-4 business days for a bank transfer and 4-6 business days for delivery of mailed check. Prepaid2Cash has partnered with leading security companies such as VeriSign, Trust Guard, and TRUSTe to ensure all transactions are securely encrypted.

IronKey named Mark Schulte as CFO and ex-Symantec marketing exec Ajay Nigam senior vice president, product management. Schulte will be responsible for financial management and corporate accounting. Nigam will lead IronKey’s product management and strategy team. Schulte was VP, finance and CFO for Right90 on-demand software provider acquired by Trilogy/Versata. He focused on scaling the company by optimizing its subscription-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. Ajay Nigam joined IronKey from the Symantec Services Group as VP, service product management, having launched solutions that combined hybrid services delivery with a mix of on-premise and in-the-cloud solutions. He also held leadership positions at VeriSign, Mossbeach Technology and Hughes Software Systems.
The American Bankers Association (ABA) and BITS, the technology policy division of The Financial Services Roundtable, are working to prepare the financial services industry for potential new financial generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) and have teamed with VeriSign, the trusted provider of Internet infrastructure services for the networked world, to serve as their exclusive registry operator. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) new gTLD initiative could result in an unprecedented number of new consumer domains. As gTLD expansion progresses, BITS, ABA and Verisign will work together to protect the integrity of online financial services around the globe with the possible introduction of new financial services domains. ICANN has targeted June for the completion of the requirements and may begin accepting new gTLD applications by October, with the first approved gTLDs aimed for implementation in 2012.
