FIS announced that it continues to sign new clients for FIS’ core solution platforms including United Bankshares, which will deploy FIS’ Integrated Banking Services (IBS) core processing solution. United Bankshares selected IBS open core processing solution for its functionality, scalability and strong integration capabilities. United Bankshares will become an approximately $9 billion bank holding company upon completion of its latest acquisition and currently has 111 full-service offices while FIS provides core solutions to meet the demands and attributes of each market segment ranging from community and mid-tier institutions to large and global commercial banks.
Antonio Castilho is the new president of Elavon in Brazil, the merchant services company created by a joint venture between Credicard, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Citigroup, and Elavon, a wholly-owned subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp and global payments provider. He will position Elavon as a competitive acquirer in Brazil’s fast-growing payments market by 2015. Elavon’s expertise in technology and specialized services for the aviation, tourism, health and large retailers segments and Credicard’s market expertise will be key drivers in the company’s ability to meet this objective. At present, the company is hiring personnel and organizing the structure of the Brazilian head office. It is estimated that Elavon will begin operating in Brazil by the end of the year. Castilho previously occupied senior positions at Visanet (currently Cielo), Banco Votorantim, in addition to Ticket and Vale Refeição.
M&T Bank is set to purchase a building in Amherst, New York from HSBC, which it will then convert to its primary data center, then retrofit its current data center, located on Commerce Drive in Amherst, into additional office space. M&T said it will invest more than $105 million to improve and equip the two buildings over the next 10 years if the purchase goes through. M&T also would locate approximately 75 new jobs and retain 45 existing jobs in Amherst as a direct result of this investment. Some of those jobs will be located at the new data center, while others will go in the Commerce Drive location. M&T Bank already employs 1,314 people at two major operations centers and nine branch locations in the Town of Amherst. Across Western New York, M&T has approximately 5,000 employees, operates 84 branch office locations and owns and/or occupies nearly two million square feet of commercial real estate.
More than 300 Wachovia banking locations across the southern half of Florida became Wells Fargo stores following the conversion of locations in the north, central, and greater Tampa area of Florida last month. Now over 70 million Wells Fargo customers can access nearly 700 Wells Fargo stores and more than 900 ATMs throughout Florida while the Bank added more than 1,500 new jobs across the state. For instance, the Wells Fargo ExpressSend distribution network includes more than 27,000 remittance payout locations with 26 remittance companies located in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Dominical Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru.
Fifth Third formally announces the opening of its Wilkinson Banking Center located at 2752 Ashley Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Wilkinson Banking Center is Fifth Third’s first green banking center in its North Carolina market and its second facility in its 12-state footprint. The Company opened its first green location in Orlando, FL, in May of this year. The Wilkinson facility was designed to use less energy and water than standard buildings and incorporates a number of environmentally-advanced features that lessen its impact on the environment. The facility will pursue Silver recognition under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council.
USAA Federal Savings Bank (FSB) has reached an ATM branding agreement with Cardtronics and will subsequently brand 189 Cardtronics-owned and operated ATMs in the metro Washington, D.C and offer fee-free cash access to USAA members. All 189 Cardtronics-owned/USAA-branded ATMs are located in the Washington, D.C. area (Washington, D.C. proper, northern Virginia and southern Maryland) CVS/pharmacy locations. USAA’s expanded banking services network through Cardtronics complements USAA Financial Centers with ATMs located in high-profile retail locations. In addition to this ATM branding agreement, USAA has participated in the Allpoint Network since 2009.
Emdeon healthcare revenue and payment cycle management and clinical information exchange solutions, and Fifth Third Bank announced that RevLink Solutions will be powered by Emdeon’s Payment Automation platform. Fifth Third’s RevLink product suite helps healthcare providers improve their working capital, streamline their revenue cycle and reduce back office expenses by automating the claim and payment posting process. Wachovia banking locations across north and central Florida and the greater Tampa area officially became Wells Fargo stores in the latest phase of the largest bank merger in U.S. history. More than 4.6 million Florida customers can now take advantage of 363 Wells Fargo stores and more than 500 ATMs across that part of the state. Wachovia banking locations in the southern half of Florida will transition to Wells Fargo stores in July, and other eastern states will follow throughout 2011. Meanwhile, the Wells Fargo “ExpressSend” distribution includes over 27,000 remittance payout locations with 26 remittance network companies located in 15 countries.
Online Resources Corporation online financial services and $2 billion asset Northwest Federal Credit Union have forged multi-year agreements for advanced online banking and bill payment solutions. With this, Northwest FCU selected Online Resources’ Architect retail banking software solution to provide its more than 105,000 members with a highly customized, extendable online banking experience. The software includes advanced functionality such as personal financial management, entitlements, small business banking, one-to-one marketing and social media integration. The Credit Union will also be able to control the administration, configuration and end-user experience of the software through a sophisticated client toolbox.

MoneyGram International has added Friendly Check and RiteCheck financial service center agents to its agent network. With this, Friendly Check-which began offering MoneyGram services on May 16- and RiteCheck- which began offing MoneyGram service on April 26- can now provide international money transfer and bill payment services under the MoneyGram brand. Friendly Check added 45 customer-centric locations across North Carolina and Virginia that offer MoneyGram Express Payment and Utility Bill Payment products in addition to money transfers while RiteCheck added 12 high-volume locations in Harlem and the Bronx to MoneyGram’s network and will provide MoneyGram Express Payment and money transfer services.
