Powa Technologies has partnered Teller card payment acquirer, to introduce PowaTag payment technology to Teller’s client base of 94,000 merchants operating in more than 20 European countries.More than 385 global brands including Electrolux, Carrefour and Universal Music have adopted the Powa solution to improve their customers’ purchasing experiences. Powa attracted international attention when it received a world record $96.7 million in a Series A funding round, in recognition of its potential to become a dominant force in the mobile payment solutions sector. Square has hired Alyssa Henry to lead engineering for the company to head up engineering operations for Square’s infrastructure and payments platform. Most recently the Vice President of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Storage Services, Alyssa led services including Amazon S3 and Amazon EBS through hypergrowth, and scaled the teams, software, and businesses. Alyssa was Amazon’s director of software development for ordering, with responsibility for Amazon’s ordering workflow software and databases. Before Amazon, Alyssa spent 12 years at Microsoft working on databases, data access technologies, and internal customer relationship management software in a variety of engineering, program management, and product unit management roles. Alyssa started her career as a developer in the financial services industry.

First Data Merchant Solutions direct-to-market merchant acquiring business and Diners Club International announced their merchant acquiring agreement. Allowing First Data Merchant Solutions to accept all cards on the Discover Global Network, including Diners Club and Discover transactions- alongside Visa, MasterCard and American Express- the agreement will be especially important to First Data Merchant Solutions customers in the travel, hospitality and entertainment sectors who service and supply international visitors to the UK. The Discover Global Network is comprised of Discover Card, Diners Club International, BC Global Card, DinaCard and Rupay.
Diners Club International, Ltd., owned by Discover Financial Services and Worldline, Atos subsidiary for e-payment services, announced a new relationship that will allow the acceptance of Discover and Diners Club cards by merchants using Worldline electronic payment services in Belgium. Worldline will add acceptance of Discover Network and Diners Club International’s cards – which are already accepted in more than 185 countries worldwide – as a standard to its payment processing services portfolio, starting in 2014.
Barclaycard Global Payment Acceptance and Diners Club International announced a new joint agreement to allow the acceptance of Discover and Diners Club cards by merchants using Barclaycard’s payment acquiring services. With this, merchants using Barclaycard’s payment acquiring services will be able to accept payments from Discover, Diners Club International and Discover Network partners cardholders from around the world. Barclaycard will subsequently add acceptance of Discover Network and Diners Club International’s cards as a standard to its payments processing services portfolio early 2015.
mPowa m-payments is expanding due to its growing customer base. New recruits are also being sought for the company’s e-commerce arm Powa, which rolls out SaaS platforms for the like of Electrolux, Robbie Williams, and Barclaycard. The Company is planning a new bout of aggressive growth in the New Year and will look to establish itself in a number of international markets, focussing on banks, telecoms providers and large corporations.
