ACI announced Webster Bank, a leading regional bank in the Northeast, has selected the company to host its online banking platform. With $21 billion in assets, Webster Bank provides a variety of business, institutional and consumer financial services through its 166 banking centers and 311 ATMs, as well as via phone, mobile and online banking. In order to serve clients’ online banking needs more effectively, improve usability and bring new features to market faster, Webster is moving to ACI’s hosted platform from an in-house system. Webster selected ACI’s industry-leading online banking platform, Universal Online Banker. Webster’s application will run in ACI’s secure and fully compliant data center, which hosts banking and payment solutions for more than 4,000 financial institutions, retailers, and billers.

CardFlight which lets developers integrate in-person card payments into their own app raised $1.6 million in seed-round funding, led by ff Venture Capital, a New York-based venture capital firm that focuses on early-stage technology startups. While a number of payments startups are focused on online and e-commerce payments, CardFlight focuses on the 90% of credit card transactions that are ‘card present’ and happen in person. Additionally, CardFlight clients are typically vertical solution providers or large and medium-sized merchants, in contrast to companies that only provide closed mobile payment offerings that do not allow customization or white-labeling.
First Data electronic commerce and payment processing and Webster Bank, N.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Webster Financial announced a new long-term deal extending their merchant services partnership. First Data will continue to provide merchant processing services to Webster’s customers at its 167 banking offices throughout the northeastern United States, allowing Webster clients to gain access to First Data’s full range of point-of-sale payment solutions.
