Barclaycard US has appointed Curt Hess as Interim CEO. Hess has been with Barclays for eight years, most recently holding the position of Chief Financial Officer for Personal and Corporate Banking in London.
USA Technologies announced an agreement with AirVend, a provider of innovative technology focused on the vending industry, that further broadens the menu of cashless payment offerings available for users of USAT’s ePort Connect® service. AirVend offers an android-based interactive touchscreen point-of-sale device designed to enhance the POS experience and ease compliance with proposed government product content disclosure rules. USAT, through its ePort Connect service, has become AirVend’s preferred service provider for vending and other unattended retail applications, including kiosk, laundry and amusement industries.
AnywhereCommerce added three recognized payments executives to bolster its international business activities. William Nichols, Nigel Bidmead, and Jimmy Quake have joined the company to drive sales initiatives and develop business across its growing global footprint. AnywhereCommerce has an established market presence in the North America, LAC, EMEA and APAC with its award-winning aCommerce series of mobile point of sale (mPOS) solutions. Driving international sales and marketing with a current focus on Latin American and the Caribbean is William Nichols, who was named executive vice president of international markets. Prior to joining AnywhereCommerce, Nichols held executive positions at First Data Corporation and VeriFone, where he was responsible for channel development and expansion, sales execution, product strategy development, and consulting services. Nigel Bidmead, who was named executive vice president, is responsible for business development and sales activities in the EMEA region. Bidmead comes to the company after several senior executive roles with industry giants First Data, VeriFone and ACI where he led large teams of personnel and drove important deals in the areas of electronic payments, cards, authorization and settlement systems, as well as software and telecommunications.Rounding out the expanded international management team is Jimmy Quake who has some 20 years of experience in the payments sector, and will serve as AnywhereCommerce’s senior vice president for the Asia-Pacific region, and will lead business development and market expansion efforts in that locale. Before joining AnywhereCommerce, Quake served as vice president for ViVoTech, and held a number of executive positions for VeriFone in Australia and Asia.
Datacard Group and Barnes International Chip Card Test Tools and Magnetic Stripe Analysers integrated the Barnes smart card verification technology into the Datacard MX Series Quality Assurance (QA) module. The Datacard QA module systematically verifies both optical and electronic elements of each card that passes through the MX Series Platform to confirm accurate card personalization. By integrating the Barnes smart card verification technology into the QA module, financial organizations and commercial bureaus will now have the ability to easily verify that smart cards which are also run through the module are EMV compliant and conform to payment system operator’s requirements.
NCR Corporation is growing its relationship with Dollar Bank, which will begin replacing 60 older non-NCR ATMs with NCR’s deposit-taking NCR “SelfServ.” Complete with scalable deposit module, Dollar Bank’s ATMs will run on NCR “APTRA Edge” software for multivendor ATM environments. NCR “SelfServ” ATMs with scalable deposit module (SDM) make the deposit portion of an ATM transaction twice as fast. SDM is the only technology in deployment that allows consumers to deposit both cash and checks simultaneously, in any orientation, through a single slot. This consumer-friendly technology makes ATM deposits faster and easier, and helps banks improve the customer experience. In addition to the SDM units, Dollar also is replacing 10 older ATMs with traditional NCR SelfServ ATMs.
Chase Sapphire premier travel rewards card launched its 2013 Golf Experience Program offering golf enthusiasts access to two professional golfers. Chase Sapphire’s Golf Experience Program enters its third year and will be hosted by the 2012 U.S. Open Champion, Webb Simpson and renowned professional golfer, Stewart Cink. The experiential program is exclusively for Chase Sapphire cardholders and includes a series of six events in cities across the U.S. this year. Chase Sapphire cardholders can redeem their credit card rewards points to participate in unique golf experiences with Simpson and Cink. Experience packages include a shoulder-to-shoulder walking clinic with one of the professional golfers, personalized swing analysis and a round of golf at one of the country’s most beautiful courses.
One Point Financial (OPF) ATM operator partnered Huntington Bank, allowing the bank customers to access their accounts with no fee by using ATMs at 88 Go Mart locations. The new ATMs are in addition to the existing 31 Huntington branches and 53 Huntington ATMs. OPF finalized an agreement with Huntington to brand the ATMs. The first ATMs will be placed in Go Marts beginning in early March while all 88 are expected to be placed by mid-March.
MoneyGram money transfer company officially crossed the 20,000 agent location milestone in Africa through its relationship with Express Exchange. In addition to Express Exchange, MoneyGram also leverages its robust agent network with well-respected pan-African banks in Cameroon like Afriland First Bank, Banque Atlantique and UBA. In 2012, MoneyGram announced the addition of First National Bank in South Africa and Ecobank in Nigeria, significantly expanding the company’s presence in Nigeria.
MoneyGram is now facilitating money transfer and remittance in Bosnia and Herzegovina through its partnership with Nova Bank. Under the agreement, Nova Bank customers are now able to send and receive international money transfers at more than 40 Nova Bank locations across rural and urban Bosnia through MoneyGram’s global network. The World Bank estimates Bosnia has the 12th-highest proportion of its population living abroad, with more than 1 million Bosnian citizens living and working outside Bosnia.
Diners Club International and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) plans to introduce a new Diners Club International franchise, With this, ICBC will operate as the first full franchise in China and is responsible for both the Diners Club brand and business in issuing and acquiring. Diners Club International is accepted in more than 185 countries and territories, in millions of merchant locations and in more than 845,000 ATMs and cash access locations all over the world.
TSYS announced its joint venture with Central Payment, in which it holds a 60% stake and will function as a TSYS affiliate. The Central Payment privately held direct merchant acquirer focuses on merchants in the restaurant, personal services and retail sectors and currently uses TSYS technology for payment processing. The joint venture will be governed by a board of directors including both TSYS and Central Payment executives.
