Paycorp payment services acquired 100% of the issued share capital of Saicom Group, the holding company of Kazang Prepaid and Saicom Payphones. Kazang provides prepaid voice, mobile data and electricity through proprietary mobile vending terminals that handle thousands of micro-payments every minute. Other services include DSTV subscription payments and RICA registration. Saicom Payphones, powered by Kazang, offers GSM-based community payphone services that run off the Vodacom network.The acquisition of Kazang is Paycorp’s first major transaction since private equity firm Actis acquired a majority stake in the group in November last year. This acquisition complements Paycorp’s existing suite of payment products and services and, with an established footprint across Africa, Kazang provides valuable new channels, expertise and insights to facilitate the business’s expansion further into the continent.Financial inclusion is a key strategic thrust fo for Paycorp which supplies a range of payment services to underserved rural and peri-urban areas.
ParTech announced that Fogo de Chão recently installed PAR POS terminals. Fogo de Chão (fo-go-de’e-shoun) is an authentic Brazilian Steakhouse with 24 locations in the U.S. and 9 locations in Brazil. Fogo de Chão has selected the PAR EverServ(R) 7000 POS hardware family as the standard POS for all new store openings and replacements or upgrades at existing stores in the U.S. Fogo de Chão initially deployed the EverServ 7000 terminals for its new flagship restaurant in New York, which opened on December 19, 2013. EverServ 7200 terminals are used at the server stations and EverServ 7700 Low Profile terminals are used at the hostess station for seating guests and taking reservations.

WEX Inc. announced that Eric Duprat has been elected to the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Duprat has more than 25 years of domestic and international experience in the mobile, security and payments industries, and is currently Chief Executive Officer of Verayo, a mobile security services turnaround firm in San Jose, California. Prior to joining Verayo in 2011, Mr. Duprat was the General Manager of Mobile Payments at PayPal, an eBay company, during which PayPal’s mobile payment business experienced tremendous growth. Prior to that, Mr. Duprat was Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Hypercom, an industry leader in payment and networking systems.
