VeriFone Initiates New Direct Sales and Service Strategy

VeriFone Systems announced a new direct distribution relationship for retailers, acquirers and processors in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Austria and Switzerland. These organizations will now be able to obtain products, services, support and value-added solutions directly from VeriFone. This will allow ready access to multiple new and upcoming products and service offerings available directly from VeriFone. Previously, retailers in these countries were limited to the portfolios that local distributors chose to sell and support. Going forward retailers will benefit from a direct sales and support relationship with VeriFone. With its recent acquisition of Hypercom, VeriFone now fields a workforce of more than 500 direct sales, support and engineering personnel on the ground in these countries. This will let VeriFone to more broadly deliver advanced payment solutions through the VeriFone VX Evolution systems, consumer facing MX systems, Secure PumpPAY and emerging mobile and tablet based systems; Integrated e-commerce processing and payment page services; and VeriShield Total Protect, Secured by RSA for encryption and tokenization.

Bank of America to Sell 13.1 Billion Shares in China Construction Bank

Bank of America Corporation agreed to sell approximately 13.1 billion common shares of China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB) in a private transaction with a group of investors, expected to generate approximately $8.3 billion in cash proceeds. After completion, Bank of America will hold approximately 5% of CCB and would remove the significant investment in financial institutions deduction from the company’s Tier 1 common capital under Basel III associated with this CCB stake.

FIRST UNITED BANK Implements BPC BANKING card management

Russia-based First United Bank chose BPC Banking Technologies Open System e-payment solutions for the global financial industry to deploy its card management system. For the Bank, the card management system implemented its “SmartIssuer” from its “SmartVista” suite for a flexible, scalable, comprehensive solution to manage its card products, focusing on the BPC card strategy including new credit and debit card products. The “SmartIssuer” solution will interface to the Bank’s Diasoft core banking system and the existing outsourced processing center.
