Citi announced a multi-year renewal of its long-standing U.S. private label credit card partnership with Office Depot, celebrating 25 years as a leading global provider of office supplies and services. Retail Partner Cards provides consumer and commercial credit card products and services, including private label credit cards, for national and regional retailers across the U.S. The business services nearly 90 million accounts and consists of managed assets of approximately $45 billion.

Diebold Renews $500 Million Credit Facility

Diebold entered into a $500 million credit facility agreement with certain credit relationship banks, replacing a previous facility of approximately the same amount which was scheduled to expire in October 2012. The renewal improves existing covenants and includes an all-in reduction in borrowing cost of 150 basis points, which represents an annual savings of approximately $5 million at current debt levels. The unsecured credit facility is for a term of five years and expires in June 2016. Diebold is a global leader in providing integrated self-service delivery and security systems and services, employing more than 16,000 associates with representation in nearly 90 countries.

Retail Decisions (ReD) payment fraud prevention and payment processing expanded its payments types by adding six new payment methods to service the growing popularity of alternative payment methods as consumers look for a wider choice of options online. They include payment acceptance through Amazon Payments, Google, Checkout, Green Dot, Mazooma, Moneybookers, and Ukash. This coincides with recent Javelin research disclosing credit card’s share of online payments is expected to decline from 60% today to 44% by 2012 and already 41% of online consumers prefer alternative payment options over credit cards.

Raet HR and payroll services in the IT industry and payment processor Equens SE partnered to ensure efficient transition to SEPA, piloting a test for the smooth processing of transfer orders in accordance with SEPA standards. Wincor-Nixdorf to Install 840 Halkbank ATMs

Wincor Nixdorf received an order from Halkbank whereby it will supply and install 840 multifunctional ATMs equipped with cash deposit modules (CDM). Additional features include automated cash deposits and cutting-edge security technology. The full deployment should be complete by the end of 2011 to increase its self-service estate to a total of 2300 systems. In order to relieve bank staff of routine tasks and offer customers 24/7 service, Turkish banks equip their self-service systems with a wide range of additional functions.

Visa Europe Introduces tactile cards for partially-sighted

Visa Europe in conjunction with Oberthur Technologies has developed a new card feature for blind and partially sighted to identify their Visa debit, credit and prepaid cards more easily to improve ease of card use for the nearly 2 million blind or partially sighted in the UK. Card issuers will now have the opportunity to offer a Visa card with a tactile mark – a clear raised varnish key line around the Visa Brand Mark – that enables blind or partially sighted people to distinguish their debit or credit card more easily from other cards in their wallets and aid positioning in payment terminals. With this, card issuers will also be able to introduce other design related elements on the card surface, enhancing the users’ identification of individual cards.

UniCredit Implements Gemalto M-Payment Contactless Sticker

UniCredit Slovakia implemented Gemalto digital security to provide “Optelio” contactless stickers for its first commercial mobile payment deployment. The first to market with a contactless debit payment service in Slovakia, the UniCredit Group footprint expands to 22 countries and an overall global network embracing approximately 50 markets through over 9,600 branches. The Optelio contactless sticker has achieved MasterCard certification, complements a full set of Gemalto services already available for mobile payment and is a microprocessor-based secure personal device that provides a compatibility solution to enable contactless functionality for handsets that don’t have contactless features built-in. Customers will be able to use the contactless feature on payments under EUR 20, while larger amount transactions will require a PIN code by attaching the sticker to their phone.
