Turkcell partners Garanti Bank for mobile payments

Turkcell communications and technology has partnered with Garanti Bank payment systems to launch its “Cep-T ParaCard” co-branded prepaid card. The “Cep-T ParaCard” no name prepaid card with MasterCard logo issued by Garanti Bank lets Turkcell customers to top-up money to the card via Garanti POS machines at TIMs, or from any Garanti ATM, and can subsequently use their cards for payments worldwide wherever MasterCard is accepted. The Cep-T Para service is a SIM based secure service that can be used with any handset. Cep-T Para subscribers can use this service to transfer money to any operator’s mobile subscribers. Recipients can withdraw their money instantly from Garanti ATMs by simply using a secure code sent to them, without a debit card.

M-payment Set to Explode as mobile penetration reaches 100%

The booming retail market with annual transactions worth 410 billion dollars (about Rs 1,850,000 crore) and nearly 100 per cent mobile penetration make phones a perfect medium for payments, said The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). A growing middle class with over 300 million people and their increasing disposable income has led the retail market to grow exponentially. VTB 24 Bank to Deploy NCR ATM marketing

VTB 24 Bank is refocusing its one-to-one marketing ATM campaigns with the NCR “Aptra Relate.” Implemented by NCR and MultiCarta, “APTRA Relate” allows VTB to extend the functionality of their ATMs and create marketing campaigns based on customer data taken from the CRM system. The software will help the bank engage in a personalized dialogue with its more than 300,000 customers and sell more financial products as soon as the customer enters their PIN number. The ATM user can then agree to his participation in VTB’s marketing campaign by checking the “I accept” box on the interface. The customer also has the option to enter his telephone number if he wishes to receive more detailed information from the bank. The one-to-one interaction between VTB 24 and its customers is made easy thanks to the user-friendly interface.

Consumer Confidence Index Drops 5+ Points

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index after having improved in April to 66.0 decreased in May to 60.8. With this, the Present Situation Index decreased to 39.3 from 40.2 and the Expectations Index also dropped to 75.2 from 83.2 last month. Consumers’ assessment of current conditions was less favorable than in April with those claiming business conditions are “good” having decreased to 14.6% from 15.5% and those claiming business conditions are “bad” having increased to 37.1% from 35.9%. Meanwhile, those stating jobs are “hard to get” increased to 43.9% from 42.4%, but those stating jobs are “plentiful” increased to 5.6% from 5.1%. Still, consumers expecting business conditions to improve over the next six months declined to 17.0% from 19.2% while those anticipating business conditions to worsen increased to 15.5% from 14.0%.
