American Express and Universal Orlando Resort have unveiled its lounge located within Universal Studios Florida theme park for American Express Cardmembers visiting Universal Orlando Resort. Open to guests who purchase a multi-park ticket or an Annual Pass with their American Express Card at UniversalOrlando.com or at the theme park front gate, the Lounge will offer guests a break from the excitement of the theme parks by providing an inviting, air-conditioned space with complimentary chilled beverages and light refreshments. The Lounge will be staffed with a concierge to help guests make dining reservations, secure tickets and learn about special American Express offers available throughout the theme park. American Express and LevelUp Introduce Seamless Loyalty Redemption

At Google’s San Francisco offices, American Express and LevelUp announced a multi-city pilot with the Levi’s® brand that introduces a big advancement in the social deal space: “couponless” loyalty offers. American Express’ Smart Offer APIs will now enable cardmembers to redeem LevelUp deals by simply enrolling and using their cards – removing the need for punch-cards, coupons, and the associated hassle at the point of sale. When a cardmember uses his or her enrolled card at a merchant, the LevelUp savings will be automatically delivered via a statement credit to the card account. Eligible cardmembers will instantly receive notification via their mobile devices indicating that a statement credit is on its way and that they have “leveled up,” unlocking the next, richer offer from that merchant. This launch also marks the first time Android’s new push notification technology is used in market. The LevelUps include Level #1: spend $10, get $20; Level #2: spend $10, get $30; and Level #3: spend $10, get $50.

YellowPepper to EstablishbMobile Financial Services

YellowPepper has received a grant by the Haiti Integrated Finance for Value Chains and Enterprise (HIFIVE), a USAID-funded project to support the development of mobile money services in Haiti, facilitating mobile phone money transfers. In Haiti, only 10% of the population is banked and one-third of Haiti’s bank branches were destroyed from the earthquake, further limiting the population’s access to financial systems. This grant will enable YellowPepper to scale up its successful pilot project and to provide its open-architecture mobile payment platform to create a vibrant, safe, accessible and easy-to-use payment ecosystem that allows Haitian consumers to store value, pay for goods and withdraw or transfer funds using their wireless phones.
