SCORE and American Express OPEN has opened the curtain on the “Small Business High Speed Growth” multi-city tour schedule. Helping small business owners develop strategies and provide educational and coaching programs on new opportunities for business growth, “Small Business High Speed Growth” expands on the “Small Business Speed Coaching Test Drive” event series to allow participating small business owners to ask questions on a variety of topics ranging from surviving the current economy to finding the “right” customers. With businesses for the first time since 2006 indicating growth takes priority over survival, economic recovery is imminent and reaching Main Street, given 35% are currently seeking to expand their workforce.

The “Small Business High Speed Growth” kicksoff in Washington, DC on May 9, then it’s off to Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN on June 7, followed by Portland, ME on June 21, Orange County, CA on July 13 and in New York, NY sometime in October. TSYS Takes Over TermNet, Expands Merchant Acquiring

TSYS has acquired TermNet Merchant Services merchant acquirer, which will subsequently be re-branded TSYS and fully integrated into its “Merchant Solutions” division. TermNet has a 25-year history in merchant acquiring and is ranked as the 52nd-largest merchant acquirer in the U.S. by dollar volume. InContext Appoints Exec to New Role of Chief Commercial Officer

Mary Shea has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer with InContext Solutions 3D Internet-based virtual store environments for research, innovation and ecommerce applications. Most recently with Frontier Strategy Group information and advisory services firm focused on emerging markets, Shea also held the role as Chief Commercial Officer, during which time she tripled revenues, increased measured client satisfaction rates and built a 40 person worldwide sales and services organization. AmEx Enrolls Sixth Class in Its Academy for Emerging Nonprofits

American Express welcomed 75 emerging nonprofit leaders to the American Express Leadership Academy, which will run at both the company’s New York headquarters and at the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Ariz. The American Express Leadership Academy is an international training program, conducted in partnership with the nonprofit Center for Creative Leadership, designed to develop the next generation of leaders in the nonprofit sector. Participants in the program are selected based on a competitive application process from national and local nonprofit partners to hear from American Express senior executives on such topics as media training, leadership training, experiential exercises, individual executive coaching, and team activities. mBanking Can Generate New Revenue from Generation Y Users

A new consumer discovery panel study by Simon-Kucher & Partners, global strategy and marketing consultancy reveals 76 percent of ‘Generation Y’ consumers (18-26 year olds) would consider a monthly fee of £5.00 a fair price to pay for mobile banking. Findings demonstrate how mobile banking could provide a new revenue source for banks instead of providing the service for free. This Generation Y demographic – equating 12 percent of the UK population – represents an untapped opportunity for banks. Most banks see mobile banking as a means of reducing costs by migrating expensive branch and call-centre transactions to mobile devices. Consequently, mobile banking is offered free. Notably, respondents’ preferences for service declined with the increasing richness of functionality. Informational services were considered most important (81 percent), followed by transactional (69 percent) then interactive (53 percent).

WorldPay Completes acquisition of Envoy Services

WorldPay global payments provider is set to acquire Envoy Services alternative payment solutions to eCommerce merchants worldwide for an undisclosed terms. Envoy is a UK FSA-regulated global payments service that offers single point access to popular local payment and collection services worldwide. The company provides international eCommerce merchants with the broadest coverage for alternative payment acceptance through a global network of over 200 local bank accounts and 40 alternative payment services as well as a leading fraud screening service. The company is headquartered in London.Following the acquisition, Envoy will continue to operate its current business model, and the existing Envoy management team will join the senior leadership of WorldPay’s eCommerce business unit.

Mako Networks Renews PCI DSS Certification

Mako Networks has been certified as compliant with the stringent Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards for a second year as a worldwide Level One service provider. The certification means Mako meets the most difficult criteria and highest levels of security clearance for handling credit card data. Mako Networks is presently the only Level One-certified network management company in the world – due mainly to its patented communication technology. Mako Networks was reviewed across 212 technical and procedural requirements in 12 categories, accompanied by supporting evidence, documentation, employee interviews and technical system checks for data security and integrity.
