Eurotech embedded technologies announced a $10 million contract to supply embedded computers to Cubic Transportation provider of automated fare collection systems for public transport. Destined for use in the smart card ticketing system on the transport system of a major European capital, the contract will see 20,000+ units installed in buses and station gates throughout the network. Each unit will interface directly to a smart card reader and relay both passenger and journey information into the fare collection system. Eurotech is a design, development and production supplier of application-ready embedded computers and systems.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) Islamic financial services has launched interactive mfinancial services through Etisalat’s Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) technology. Etisalat’s USSD technology allows interactive communication between the bank and a customer using their mobile phone. Unlike SMS banking, the USSD technology will enable customers to conduct secure real time transactions through their mobile phones, and get information on a broad range of banking services offered by ADIB. ADIB mobile banking allows customers to perform transfers between a customer’s accounts or third party ADIB accounts, monthly card payments and payments of bills for utilities such as ADDC, AADC, DEWA, SEWA and Etisalat.

Alliance Data Closes $450mm Term Asset-Backed Securities

Alliance Data Systems Corporation loyalty and marketing solutions has been issued $450 million of public, fixed-rate, term asset-backed securities by World Financial Network Credit Card Master Note Trust. Issued as part of the securitization program for Alliance Data’s private label credit card banking subsidiary, World Financial Network National Bank (WFNNB), the securities consist of four series of notes rated AAA through BBB with an average life of five years and carry a weighted average fixed-rate of just under 5%. The Company’s private label credit card business currently employs three sources of funding for its roughly $5 billion portfolio, representing approximately 100 retailer programs.

U.S. Branded Prepaid to Top $440b by 2017

The total value of the branded prepaid card opportunity in the United States is expected to surpass $440 billion by 2017, nearly quadrupling its estimated value of $120.2 billion in 2009. Consumers in our Country will remain the world leader in hosting prepaid card use, holding 53% of the overall global market share and more than double the next six leading markets. The Prepaid Market Sizing Report, prepared by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and commissioned by MasterCard, indicates future branded prepaid growth will be driven primarily by increases in the public sector and corporate payroll segments. India, the UK, Mexico, Italy, Middle East and Brazil markets will hold approximately 25% of the branded prepaid market. The Brazilian market, however, is expected to expand from just $1.7 billion in 2009, to more than $17 billion in 2017. In 2009, branded prepaid payroll alone was valued at $25.6 billion and is projected to reach $99.6 billion by 2017.

New Bank of America TV Ad to Debut During All-Star Game

Bank of America is set to debut its latest commercial during the 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 13, at 8 p.m. on FOX, celebrating its commitment to MLB. This is the first time in three years that Bank of America has introduced new baseball-themed creative during the Midsummer Classic. JPMorgan Chase Appoints Chairman of Florida Region

Mel Martinez has been appointed the JPMorgan Chase Chairman of Florida, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
