The RSA Security Division of EMC released its “Secure Payment Services: Card Data Security Transformed” security brief, detailing advanced security technologies. To relieve merchants of storing electronic payment card information, the brief combines expert input from RSA, First Data Corporation and Visa and is focused on asserting to merchants they can better manage card data without having to keep card numbers at all. With this, the new RSA Security Brief introduces “secure payment services” outsourcing credit card data security, which transfers safeguarding card information to outside service providers to improve electronic card data security. Ultimately, this reduces the time, complexity and cost of achieving PCI compliance for merchants. The brief also stresses tokenization for replacing card numbers altogether with safe proxies that can’t be fraudulently used for purchases, but still allow merchants to track and analyze the customer purchasing behaviors associated with each payment card.Details
