US Airways is offering customers a chance to save up to $300 when

NCR Deploys BLOCKBUSTER Express Kiosks With Gristedes

NCR Corporation is set to install its “BLOCKBUSTER Express” -branded DVD-rental kiosks in 35 locations of Gristedes NY-based small supermarkets. Slated for completion by the end of January, deployment of the NCR “BLOCKBUSTER Express”-branded kiosk offers consumers DVD rentals for $1 per night through conveniently located kiosks. Renters can then return the DVD to any convenient “BLOCKBUSTER Express” kiosk, which hold more than 900 DVDs for the widest selection of new release and classic DVDs available. Credit Function Much Safer than Debit Function

Most consumers welcome bank debit cards as a convenient means to obtain cash and to pay for anything, although they carry with them risks and the potential for fraud. This potential is eliminated when the payment card is used as “credit” at the POS. In doing so, the payment is applied to their account in the same manner as an actual debit transaction, the key difference being the transaction is covered by the Visa or MasterCard fraud detection and prevention network, depending on the association through which your debit card is issued, which is bypassed with the debit functionality. This opens the cardholder to card replication and subsequent fraud.

Windstream has introduced its “Identity Theft Protection,” designed to keep customers informed of attempts to steal their personal information and credit identity to use without their knowledge. A person’s identity is stolen every three seconds in unimaginable ways to open credit cards, apply for loans, rent an apartment or even apply for a mortgage, potentially costing the victim thousands of dollars, ruining their credit. Shielding the customer’s personal information and confidential data, the new solution offers users a 10-year audit of a customer’s Social Security number to determine who is using it; assisting in receiving annual credit reports; Freezing, canceling or replacing payment and ID cards in the event they are stolen; removal from pre-approved or pre-screened credit card or insurance offers; and a dedicated 800 number for Windstream customers to call with questions or for assistance.

U.S. Bank Offers Baggage Fee Relief

U.S. Bank is offering relief for escalating baggage fees charged by
airlines by increasing the allowance on the “FlexPerks Travel Rewards
Visa Signature” card. When FlexPerks Travel Rewards cardholders redeem FlexPoints for an airline award ticket they will also get a $25 allowance for that trip to help pay for baggage, in-flight food and drink or other airline fees. The innovative benefit, which was previously set at $20, was designed to enhance the overall award travel experience and help drive home the notion that free award travel should actually be free. U.S. Bank introduced FlexPerks in mid-2009 and in December was named the “Best Credit Card if You Want Travel Perks” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. FlexPerks enables customers to quickly earn points toward free flights – which can be redeemed with as few as 20,000 FlexPoints for airline tickets valued up to $400 on over 150 airlines with no blackout dates, capacity controls or e-ticket booking fees.

Home Depot Deploys Fujitsu U-Scan Self-Checkout

The Home Depot has transitioned to Fujitsu “U-Scan” self-checkout software in their U.S. and Canadian retail stores. The “U-Scan” application has open integration architecture utilizing a unique Virtual POS to enable retailers to implement business critical POS software changes while avoiding costly and complicated self-checkout re-integration and lengthy testing cycles. CompSource Deploys Mazooma Debit-Based Payment Solution

CompSource eCommerce electronics retailer in the United States, has signed an agreement to integrate Mazooma online debit payment solution for U.S. consumers on its website, www.compsource.com. This allows CompSource customers to pay directly from an online back account by selecting Mazooma at checkout, offering convenience and security. Mazooma supports 75 percent of all consumer bank accounts in the U.S. and has no jurisdictional limitations.
