Mazooma Launches an eCommerce Payment Solution

FL-based alternate payment provider Mazooma is offering a real-time
eCommerce payment solution that enables customers to pay for purchases
directly from bank accounts. Mazooma allows millions to pay for
their eCommerce purchases instantly without a credit card.
With the Mazooma solution on the checkout page, merchants can open their
eCommerce doors to millions of new consumers who do not have credit
cards or have previously balked at sending sensitive information online.
Through an Internet-enabled back account, consumers can use Mazooma to
transact in real-time with online merchants through a few simple,
secure, and convenient steps. Mazooma
does not require pre-registration so the solution may be used
immediately, increasing conversion rates. Merchants receive instant
authorization, allowing them to ship the order at once. Currently,
Mazooma supports more than 70 percent of all bank accounts in the U.S.
and has plans for international expansion and the payment system has

France-based Tagattitude has introduced the first turnkey mobile payment platform that works on four billion mobile phones worldwide. The new “TagPay” uses Tagattitude’s “Near Sound Data Transfer” technology, to allow any mobile to function as a payment means. “NSDT” has received multiple “GSMA” innovation awards and is now proven to be secure, reliable, and efficient. “TagPay” can be used for retail transactions at the point of sale, money transfer, ATM cash withdrawal, microfinance operations and budget or savings management. “TagPay” is being piloted in Zambia, India, South Africa, Congo, and the Democratic Republic of Congo and is operational in several African countries.

Merchant account provider Merchant Warehouse has introduced the newest
version of “BINSmart Cost Manager”. Once a card is swiped, “BINSmart
Cost Manager” evaluates whether it is a
debit, credit, or corporate card, then it calculates the estimated
lowest cost processing method and prompts for the best method to run
that sale. “BINSmart Cost Manager’s” benefits recognizes the difference
between a credit card, debit card, or corporate card to estimate lowest
processing costs; automatically prompts for PIN or signature when a
debit card is used, whichever is estimated to be the lowest processing
cost for merchants; reduces consumer “charge-back” disputes/costs;
enhances fraud protection with prompt-driven PIN-debit transactions;
prompts for entry of additional corporate card information to
avoid downgrades; ease-of-use and minimal set-up with the solution fully
installed in the credit card terminal; completion verification of daily

Citi Survey Finds Consumers Saving More

A new survey from Citibank reveals that 84% of consumers feel making a
change to personal finances as a priority.
More than 75% of those surveyed said increasing their savings is
the top change they are looking to make in their banking this year,
while 37% are looking to maximize rewards
programs. Of those surveyed, 19- to 23-year-olds lead the way in
actively looking to change their money habits by increasing their
savings and taking advantage of rewards programs. In addition to
changing their banking habits, the survey found consumers are
also planning to reduce spending in the New Year, with dining out and
new clothing purchases being the first expenditures to go.
Approximately 60% of consumers plan to scale back eating at
restaurants in the next few months, 52% are cutting back on new clothing
and shoes. However, one-third of respondents are not willing to give up
their cable TV or cell phone service.

EPORT EXPANSION

USA Technologies has launched a major expansion program in Canada of its
“ePort”
and “ePort Connect” Service. USAT customers are installing the ePort
system in beverage
vending machines, coffee brewing machines, and desktop touch screen

Epicor Software Ranks High in POS

OH-based management consulting firm LakeWest Group has rated POS
provider Epicor Software a leader in the POS software market.
LakeWest Group surveyed the Top 100 retailers as identified in the
August 2008 issue of STORES magazine for the “10th Annual POS
Benchmarking Survey”, which revealed Epicor as the clear leader in the
POS software utilization category with a 12% share of the market.
