eCommLink Names New CEO & President/GM

Prepaid debit processor eCommLink has named T. Jack Williams as CEO and Ennio Ponzetto as president/GM. Williams brings to the position of CEO extensive experience in the
prepaid card industry. He designed and implemented what is considered
one of the first prepaid gift card programs during his tenure with
Blockbuster Inc. Williams has also served as a senior vice president at
Tier Technologies, National Processing Company and Stored Value Systems.
In 1999, Williams was selected as Credit Card Management magazine’s
Debit Executive of the Year for his innovative work in the development
of gift cards. Ponzetto has over 30 years of experience managing leading technology
companies in the U.S. and abroad where he was overseen the R&D, sales
and marketing and engineering efforts of companies such as Olivetti,
I.C.S. and Bull’s Printers Company Compuprint International. eCommLink enables program managers and
financial institutions to maximize revenue from their prepaid debit
programs.

ProPay Unveils eAuction Account for eBay Power Sellers

UT-based ProPay has unveiled the ProPay “eAuction
Account” for eBay Silver power sellers and higher. It will be available
from ProPay in late October. ProPay is fully integrated into eBay checkout. Buyers do not provide
their banking information or log into or sign up for ProPay accounts.
Buyers simply enter their credit or debit card information, making their
checkout quicker and easier. And many buyers prefer paying with credit
cards because of the convenience, broader protection and rewards. ProPay’s secure card reader allows sellers to remotely “swipe” and
process credit cards safely. The card holder information is immediately
encrypted and, with an internet connection, processed real time through
ProPay’s virtual terminal.
It will have a $24 annual fee with a $24 rebate processing credit
offered to sellers who process $3,000 or more with ProPay during their
first 6 months after signing up. The transaction fees will be very
similar to competitors’ virtual terminal transaction fees.

AIR-serv Kiosks will Accept USA Tech Credit Cards

USA Technologies and AIR-serv have entered into an
agreement where Air-serv will enable their kiosks to accept credit cards with USA Technologies'” ePort” and “ePort Connect Service”. Under the agreement with USA Technologies, AIR-serv will install 10,000
e-Port cashless transaction terminals over the next two years.
Installations are expected to begin before the end of the year.
AIR-serv is the industry leader in the coin-operated tire inflation and
vacuuming industry. There are more than 65,000
installed units worldwide.

US Bank’s Aviation Card was the Payment of Choice

Six aircraft participated in the trip which lasted 71 days and covered 24,000
nautical miles, visiting 23 countries including Greenland, Iceland,
Norway, France, Morocco, Malta, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Dubai, Oman,
India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, South Korea and Russia.

Gift card manufacture MT&L has increased its Tier 1 manufacturing space and distribution efficiency to its customers. The facility is
certified for Visa, MasterCard & Discover prepaid card packaging,
warehousing and distribution. The expansion doubles
production square footage and capacity for closed loop gift cards for its retail and restaurant customers and open loop gift cards. MT&L now has state of the art encoding, imaging and packaging
equipment, bringing MT&L’s capacity for card personalization to above two million daily, and packaging capacity to over one million daily.

Chase Card Services Selects Altus Group

PA-based marketing agency Altus Group has been selected by Chase Card Services to provide strategic, creative and production management services. Altus will focus on several lines of business including Chase Visa Business, Chase Freedom, ChaseHealthAdvance and Continental Airlines World MasterCard from Chase. To date, Altus has conducted five direct marketing campaigns for Chase
with a combined value of approximately $1 million.

Survey Finds 63% of Consumers Made Electronic Purchases

A new survey finds that 63% of all consumer purchases are made electronically. The 2008 Study of Consumer Payment Preferences, conducted by BAI and Hitachi Consulting found that electronic payments now account for the majority of payments across all
three major payment venues-including bill payment. Internet payments
have always been predominantly electronic, almost by default. For
in-store payments, the balance between paper and electronic payments
shifted in 2003, leaving bill payment as the last bastion of paper-based
payments. This is no longer the case, however, as paper-based payments’
share of bill payments shrank from 55% in 2005 to 38% in 2008.

34% Expect to Spend Less on Gifts and Entertaining this Holiday Season

MA-based Burst Media released the results of a survey of
over 3,000 Internet users that indicate nearly 34% of respondents
expect to spend less on gifts and entertaining this holiday season.
Moms 45 years and older will be frugal this holiday season with
43.8% planning to cut holiday gift and entertainment spending. The
larger the family the more likely to say holiday spending will be cut,
topping out at nearly 54% of respondents with 3 or more
children cutting their holiday budgets. Additionally, a significant
shift in planned holiday spending occurred among
men between our August and September surveys. In August, 21.5% men
planned to cut holiday spending, now increased to 32.5% in September.
Respondents reporting high household income plan to pull
back their holiday spending with 39.3% of respondents with HHI of
$75,000 or more plan to spend less on gifts and entertaining this
holiday season – compared to 25.3% in August. Burst Media

MasterCard and Next Jump Launch MasterCard Savings

MasterCard Worldwide and NY-based loyalty provider Next Jump has launched the “MasterCard Savings” program that provides Debit MasterCard and eligible Prepaid MasterCard cardholders merchant-funded discounts and special offers each day. Through MasterCard Savings, cardholders will be able to select which
merchants they receive promotional offers from and set up e-mail alerts so that they can be notified when discounts and other unique offers such as
exclusive in-store shopping events become available from preferred
merchants. In this initial launch, cardholders will be able to take
advantage of discounts both on-line and in stores through the use of
promotional codes, printed coupons and direct links to the discounts
available from their personalized MasterCard Savings portal.

Walgreens has Selected Bank of America’s ePayables

Drugstore chain Walgreens has selected Bank of America’s “ePayables” payment management system. “ePayables” is a Bank of America electronic payments and remittance
delivery solution for corporates. It can lower payment processing costs,
reduce risk, and improve productivity for clients by making payments and
delivering remittance data to vendors electronically. The “ePayables” service seamlessly interfaces with Walgreens’ accounts
payable systems and processes with minimal impact on its technology
resources. It also enables Walgreens to cut payment processing costs,
improve cash flow, and earn rebates based on transaction volume.
