ECONOMICS JUNE

The British leading index decreased by 1% while the coincident index
decreased by .1% for the month of June 2008, according to the Conference
Board. The leading index’ decline is consistent with a 3% decline since
December and is a direct result of lagging consumer confidence,
spectacle speculation and falling stock prices. Meanwhile, the
coincident index decline is consistent with the .3% drop over the
preceding 6 months and is mostly thanks to negative contribution from
retail sales. Founded in 1916, The Conference Board is a business
membership and research network to help executives build professional
