70% of Consumers Prefer Restaurant Gift Cards

Pizza Hut has released the results of a national online survey it commissioned that shows 70% of consumers rated restaurants as the top place they prefer to receive gift cards. This choice rated higher than department stores (59%), clothing stores (49%) and electronic stores (38%). The survey also indicated that 72 % of consumers view gift cards are as convenient. Easy (65%), practical (64%) and useful (63%) also ranked high as attributes of gift cards. For casual dining restaurants, consumers want to receive an average of nearly $40 on a gift card. Consumers responded that the top amounts to receive on a casual dining gift card included $21-25 (36%) and $41-50 (33%) while 95% of consumers said that gift cards are good gifts for any occasion.

Target Launches a Short-Term REDcard Promo

Target has launched a holiday promotion for users of its “REDcard.” The “Wow or Never” program features 20 exclusive gifts, plus Target cardholders will have the chance to win prizes associated with each gift, ranging from an African safari to a new Maserati. For example, an “Authentic Autographed NASCAR Collage” for $129 is available with a prize to win of a trip for two to the big race in Daytona. The prize includes trackside seats in the owner’s pit box, a “Garage Tour” on “Nextel Cup Race” day and two customized Target pit-crew fire suits. Cardholders will automatically be entered to win prizes when they purchase one of the exclusive qualifying products. CPNI & PROSA

CPNI Inc and PROSA electronic transaction provider have signed
agreements to provide Mexican financial organizations with payment
processing solutions. The processing solution will be implemented for
CPNI’s “Phone Authorized Transfer” (PAT) mobile payment, which
allows users to conduct payments, transfers and access to bank accounts
via their mobile phone. Furthermore, “PAT” provides payment message
routing allowing remote payments and transfers to both companies and
individuals. The “PAT” solution is composed of “PATsend”, allowing
money transfers to individuals, “PATbuy”, allowing retail transactions with
participating merchants, and “PATbank”, making available various banking
services through the mobile phone. For these transactions, customers need to
provide the recipient or merchant phone number, the account number to
which the funds are to be transferred and the transaction amount. PROSA
processes over 1.3 billion electronic transactions per year throughout
Latin America while Canadian-based CPNI provides banks with secure mobile
payment solutions around the world.

Burger King Launches a Prepaid Card Promo

Burger King has launched the “Fill Every Appetite on Your List” promotion for its “BK Crown Card” offering consumers the opportunity to win American Express-branded prepaid cards worth $50,000 or a year of free air travel courtesy of Orbitz awarded as $10,000 worth of airfare. “BK Crown Cards” can be loaded with $5 to $100 and then reloaded and reused. The cards can be purchased and reloaded at participating BURGER KING restaurants and online at www.bkcrowncard.com. partnered with First Data to conduct transaction processing and card
production. The solution offers connectivity through First Data’s
“Datawire” transport network to provide point-of-sale using Internet
connections. First Data has operations in 38 countries, serving over
5 million merchant locations, 1,900 card issuers and offers debit
acceptance at 2.1 million ATMs and retail POS. First Data’s
“Datawire” Network has transported billions of transactions through
nearly 100,000 locations while Tim Hortons has 3,110 restaurants
throughout the United States and Canada.

Internet payment system provider Trustcash Holdings has integrated with Castle Communications. Castle develops interactive web based applications designed to build traffic, increase webmaster productivity and automate routine webmaster tasks. Their flagship product “Partnersoft” is an affiliate tracking software packages on the market. Trustcash has developed a business based on the sale of a stored value card (both virtual and physical) that can be used by consumers to make secure and anonymous purchases on the internet without disclosing their credit card or personal information.

MasterCard Buys 17.5K e-Port G6 Terminals

PA-based USA Technologies reports it has signed a new contract with MasterCard for 4,000 “e-Port G6” cashless transaction terminals, the fourth “e-Port” agreement with MasterCard in 18 months. Eurosystem has launched its “TARGET2” solution for European market
integration. The “TARGET2” solution allows for integrated SEPA payment,

Fiserv EFT and core data processor FedComp have formed a non-exclusive partnership that will provide credit unions with access to Fiserv EFT’s ATM and debit products and services. FedComp provides development and support of PC-based credit union data processing systems. Fiserv EFT provides ATM and debit services to more than 2,700 financial institutions across the United States. Fiserv owns the ACCEL/Exchange Network, operates 18,000 ATMs, and currently processes approximately 470 million ATM and debit transactions per month.
