Citibank Taiwan has launched the “Citi Privileges” credit card in
conjunction with the Wang Group, Vieshow Cinema, and Lion
Travel. Cardholders are rewarded a bonus point for every NT $15
spent in member stores, free birthday-meals, free Vieshow Cinema
tickets, and free group airport transportation. The card also offers
ample savings on purchases at member retailers. Citi has nearly 200
million customer accounts in more than 100 countries and provides
diverse financial products and services.

MELLON & VISA

Mellon Financial Products Support (MFP) and VISA have announced
they will be providing chip-card training to retailers for VISA Europe’s
promotion of secure transactions, charge-back reduction and wait-time
reduction. The training will provide merchants training on the use of Visa
chip cards with or without the use of pin, in the use and acceptance of
smart cards, the migration to chip technology and its benefits and the
updated security features of Visa chip cards. In Greece, there are more
than 1.5 million chip cards currently in circulation.

ALIPAY ONLINE

Alipay has introduced an international service to Mainland China which
allows consumers to purchase goods and services directly from global
retailers. The company’s online payment solution serves both consumer
and business-to-business transactions and has over 50% of the market
share in China. The transaction support solution, being introduced with
Bank of China and China Construction Bank, allows users to shop from
home and is in response to statistics showing that shopping is the major
reason Chinese nationals travel. Mastercard projects that 19 million
Chinese will make overseas trips in 2H07. Alipay has over 47 million
users in China, 80,000 registering daily and an average daily transaction
volume of over RMB 150 million from 780,000 daily transactions. The
company’s parent, The Alibaba Group, is the largest e-commerce
company in China.

I-BANKING

APACS has released 2006 telephone, Internet banking and e-commerce
figures for 2006 showing that most Internet banking users are 55 or
older, with a 350% increase since 2001. Overall, Internet banking has
risen 174% in the same period, exceeding telephone banking for the first
time. Additionally, online banking customers make an average of 29.2
purchases while non-users make 16.4 per year. Those, however, who use
both telephone and online banking make the most purchases with an average
of 31.7 a year.

BARCLAYCARD ADVERTISING

With its latest television advertising campaign, Barclaycard will be
promoting
the benefits of its interest-free credit card offers and online fraud
protection.
The campaign will be broadcast with comedy actors, including Julian Rhind-
Tutt and Stephen Mangan, portraying compromising situations requiring the
flexibility of Barclycard’s credit card. In the UK, Barclaycard is
comprised of
Barclaycard, Sky Card, Thomas Cook and Argos branded credit cards and
FIRSTPLUS secured lending.

GEMALTO & NXP

Gemalto and NXP Semiconductors have announced their collaboration
for the development of SIM-enabled, Single-Wire-Protocol(SWP) NFC
Solutions. SWP is a specification for a one-wire connection between the
SIM card and the NFC chip in a mobile phone. With this agreement, the
companies aim to define a SIM-based NFC industry standard and
compliancy with telecom operator requirements. The joint solution is
currently
under review for standardization by the European Telecommunications
Standards Institute (ETSI). Gemalto had 2006 annual revenues of 1.7 billion
euro, operations in about 100 countries and over 10,000 employees. NXP is
a semiconductor company founded by Philips more than 50 years ago and
has 37,000 employees in more than 20 countries. NXP posted sales of EUR
5 billion in 2006.

Maybank Singapore will be introducing new card benefits in conjunction
with its conference “Business Opportunities in Malaysia”. The
card benefits are being introduced over the next 3 months with the

Following the acquisition of the pH Group, Experian has conducted
numerous executive changes including the appointment of Tony
Pullen as Managing Director of the Business Information Division.
Pullen was previously employed with Experian’s competitor, Equifax,
as European Strategic Finance Officer and as President and CFO of
the Coca-Cola German Division. Colleagues perceive Pullen’s
