TAM Expands its Payment Options

Vocalink has signed an agreement with Seceti contributing to the
company’s expansion of SEPA for flexibility in routing payments. Seceti,
an Italian payment service provider, will provide merchants with options
for payment routing with lower cost in Europe as a result of the agreement.
Results such as these are expected due to Vocalink’s platform which is
capable of processing 36 billion credit transfers and direct debits. This
comes after Vocalink’s recent expansion with the signing of a pan-European
payment service in conjunction with 10 European banks.

Bremer Bank Converts Clients to HPS

NJ-based Heartland Payment Systems has entered into a strategic relationship with MN-based Bremer Bank to convert more than 1,500 of Bremer’s current merchant clients to Heartland’s processing system Heartland and Bremer will also focus on a joint business development program that leverages both companies’ regional customer bases for new business and cross selling opportunities. By formalizing their relationship, both companies gain access to new customer and sales referrals. In addition, Bremer will be able to offer its business banking clients the added value of Heartland’s payment processing systems, providing a faster, more cost-effective way to process credit/debit cards and gift card programs. Bremer Financial Corporation is a privately held, $6.8 billion regional financial services company. Serverside & SMC Launch Custom Card Solution

Providing that Transact will be Media Markt’s primary provider of
electronic
top-up (e-top-up) for prepaid products, the companies have signed
a multi-country agreement. With full implementation expected at 462 of Media
Markt’s stores by the end of 2008, the service will first be available
at electronic
registers in Germany, Austria, Sweden and the Netherlands. Other
countries the
service will be available in the months to come include Belgium, France,
Greece,
Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Poland, Switzerland, Russia and Turkey. Media
Markt
is a European retailer of consumer electronics and Transact is a
subsidiary of
Euronet Worldwide. Euronet has processing centers located in the U.S.,
Europe
and Asia, and processes electronic top-up transactions at more than 356,000
point-of-sale terminals across more than 186,000 retailers.

MLB.com Gift Card is Launched

Blackhawk Network has signed an exclusive agreement with MLB Advanced Media LP, the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, to launch the first-ever MLB.com gift card. The MLB team branded gift cards may be redeemed for tickets online and offline, merchandise online and at team retail stores and concessions at ballparks. The Oakland Athletics, San Francisco Giants and Seattle Mariners were among the first teams to launch their gift cards. In addition, ten other teams currently participate, including the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals. Blackhawk Network, a subsidiary of Safeway Inc., is a prepaid and payments network and the largest provider of third-party prepaid cards.

Triton Unveils a Full Function ATM

MS-based Triton has introduced its first full-function, through-the-wall ATM. The new “FT7000” features an envelope depository and an expansion bay for future upgrades such as check scanning. It is available in a walk-up or drive-up configuration, is fully XFS compliant and runs Triton’s “Prism” ATM software with “Diebold 912 Emulation” support, assuring seamless integration and compatibility into any existing network. Triton has more than 158,000 installations in over 24 countries worldwide and is the largest provider of off-premise ATMs and ATM management software in North America.

CASH VALET PAYROLL CARD

Mint Capital, in conjunction with Cash Valet Financial Services, has
launched a payroll card for payroll disbursement, paying expenses and incentive
distribution. The solution is designed to replace manual methods of payment,
such as check-based payroll, and is projected to rapidly grow in popularity
due to recent statistics from the U.S. payroll card market. Statistics
show that there were 7 million Payroll Cards in circulation in the US in 2006 from
2.2 million cards in circulation in 2004 and is expected to increase to 17.5
million by 2010. The popularity of payroll cards has much to do with the average
company savings being 75% over issuing paper payroll checks.

Voca Says Net Pay Drops

Throughout the month of June 2007, research conducted by Center for
Economics and Business Research (cebr) and the VocaLink take home pay
index has demonstrated a national increase in take home pay of 3.3%. Other
VocaLink findings show that take home pay in the manufacturing sector
registered an increase from 3.4% in May to 4.8% in June 2007 and the
services sub-index, reflecting take home pay growth in the services sector,
continued to decrease from 2.5% in May to 2.1% in June. Because VocaLink
processes over 90% of UK salaries, it is a reliable source for British
salary
statistics.

PA College Campus Goes Contactless

Penna-based Slippery Rock University has teamed with NJ-based Heartland Payment Systems to enable contactless payments by cell phone to students and faculty. This week, 8,500 students, faculty and staff will receive a new official campus ID “Rock Dollars” card and a separate contactless token designed for use with their mobile phones. The card or the phone can be used at on-campus locations as well as participating merchants in the surrounding community. Campus vending machines, laundry facilities, photocopiers and printers will be outfitted this summer with dual technology readers to enable contactless payments via mobile phone in addition to the traditional ID card payments. HPS has been Slippery Rock University’s payment processor for nearly ten years.

NCR Names a New HR Executive

OH-based NCR has promoted Andrea Ledford to SVP/Human Resources. Previously, Ledford was NCR vice president of human resources for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific and, before joining NCR in 2006, she led human resources for those regions at Symbol Technologies. Ledford also held senior global human resources roles at Cisco Systems, as well as Storage Technology, United International Holdings and Synergen. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Colorado and an executive master’s degree with INSEAD.
