The Alabama Credit Union selected Dynamic Card Solutions, developer of “CardWizard,” to expand instant issue technology throughout the state. DCS’ CardWizard instant issue software provides an easy and secure method to instantly issue and re-PIN cards, along with a user-friendly administration component that allows for full reporting, card inventory management, robust security and monitoring features required for instant issue. Alabama Credit Union provides service to its 34,000 with $216-million in assets. Dynamic Card Solutions is a developer of instant issuance and PIN selection solutions for banks, credit unions and retailers.

MasterCard & AFFN Expand POS/ATM Acceptance

MasterCard and the Armed Forces Financial Network are expanding service for deployed troops with access to “Maestro” merchant and “Cirrus” ATM terminals. AFFN currently serves more than 337 financial institutions and 92 million cardholders. Under the new pact, AFFN cardholders will now have access to more than 9.4 million merchants and 1.1 million ATM locations worldwide. AFFN utilizes MasterCard’s global end-to-end debit transaction processing service, “MasterCard Complete Debit Processing,” for routing “Maestro” and “Cirrus” transactions to its switch provider. AFFN-qualified BINs have been added to “Maestro/Cirrus” BIN tables and merchants are being instructed to treat AFFN as synonymous with “Maestro” acceptance globally.

Heartland Payment Systems Buys Debitek

NJ-based Heartland Payment Systems has acquired Chattanooga-based Debitek, a stored value card specialist. Debitek has an established client base utilizing approximately 130,000 payment devices. Among its many applications, Debitek provides its cashless solution to numerous university and business campuses across the country – including the Universities of Florida and Minnesota, Northwestern University, and BMW, Coca-Cola and Morgan Stanley – as well as the entire Federal penitentiary system. Users Invest $2MM in GreenZap

San Diego-based GreenZap says it recently raised $2 million by inviting a select group of its users to invest in the Company. The company invited a select group of its users to invest in GreenZap, by purchasing 10% Convertible Debentures, which will convert to restricted stock 12 months from the original purchase date, at 50% of the market value. The company was able to close the offering to its members in just nine days. GreenZap enables any business or individual with an email address to send and receive money securely and cost-effectively online.

Signature Debit Rewards Help to Drive Volume

A new survey has found that the number of consumers enrolled in debit rewards programs has increased 63% over the past two years. Of cardholders enrolled in a rewards program, 46% plan to use signature debit more often because of rewards versus 16% indicating a likelihood of using PIN debit more. The study, conducted by the American Bankers Association and Boston-based Dove Consulting, also found that 83% of consumers report having a debit card and of those 95% have signature-capable cards that can be used for both PIN and signature debit transactions. There are currently more than 250 million signature debit cards-in-force in the U.S. according to CardData ([www.carddata.com][1]).

Le Credit Lyonnais Implements Nexus INvolve Software

Paris-based LCL has implemented the Nexus “SoftwareDeveloper” and “Self-Service” versions of the “INvolve” middleware in order to port and upgrade its automated teller machine software solution. Nexus provided LCL with migration services that accelerated integration of the application into the open-standard “INvolve” middleware. LCL’s existing self-service ATM software solution was based on a LCL proprietary application specific to each manufacturer and implemented on
the DOS and Windows NT operating systems. The “INvolve” family of cross-channel client middleware can be used in either single or multiple channel solution architectures to connect financial services solutions to multiple and varied sets of more than 300 banking-specific devices used with branch teller workstations, kiosks and ATMs.

Columbus Data Services has signed a three-year contract renewal with Transaction Network Services for the “ATMLink” solution to support its wireless ATM program. CDS has installed over 1,000 wireless ATMLink units nationwide in 2005, a significant landmark for the new Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology. TNS’ ATMLink wireless technology to CDS’ current systems allows for rapid installation and flexible placement of the ATMs. TNS designs and implements multiple data networks designed specifically for the transport of transaction-oriented data.

These include the AIR MILES Reward Program, Canada’s premiere coalition loyalty marketing program, Epsilon, a leading provider of integrated direct marketing solutions and COLLOQUY, a leading provider of loyalty-marketing publishing, research, educational and consulting services. Atlanta-based Global Payments has inked a multi-year processing agreement with Los Angeles-based Signature Card Services for authorization, capture, and settlement, as well as BIN sponsorship for credit, debit, and EBT card processing. Global Payments offers a comprehensive line of processing solutions for credit and debit cards, business-to-business purchasing cards, gift cards, electronic check conversion and check guarantee, check verification and recovery and terminal management.

MasterIndex Forecasts 67.5MM Travelers in A/P

MasterCard’s “MasterIndex of Travel” forecasts that Malaysia and Philippines will produce the strongest year-on-year growth for outbound travel. Strong growth is also expected from Australia (9.5%),
China (9.0%), Japan (8.0%) and Korea (7.8%). An increasing number of
the respondents polled (84%) named destinations in Asia/Pacific as their
top choice for personal travel, above those in Europe (34%) and the
United States (17%). For business travelers, 86% traveled for business
within the Asia/Pacific region, a 25% increase from a year ago. The
results also highlight the growing trend of women travelers as Asia’s
new spending powerhouse. Females (40%) are traveling more than males
(34%) for personal trips and skewed towards older respondents.

Corillian Revenues Rise 16% in 4Q/05

Online payments specialist Corillian posted a 16% increase in fourth quarter revenues to $13.8 million. Net loss for the quarter was $39,000, compared to a net loss of $60,000 for the prior quarter. During the quarter Corillian acquired nine new customers, including six online banking and bill payment customers and sold upgrades and additional products to several existing customers, including products it began selling in August with the close of the InteliData and qbt acquisitions. Wachovia recently converted to the Corillian “Voyager” platform and “Consumer Banking” application.
