JCB International Signs Major Deal in Hong Kong

Hang Seng Bank and JCB International have teamed to launch the “HANG SENG/JCB Standard Card and the “HANG SENG/JCB Gold Card” in Hong Kong. The new cards offer privileged access to restaurants, hotels, theme parks, and golf courses, plus exclusive VIP airport lounge service in Tokyo, Osaka and other major cities in Japan. Cardholders can also access privileges offered at JCB Plazas, according to this week’s issue of CardFlash International. Hang Seng and JCB say that in the months ahead discount packages for travel to Japan and other valued-added programs for the new cards will be introduced. JCB opened its first overseas representative office in Hong Kong in 1981, and also issued the first JCB credit card outside Japan in Hong Kong in 1985. Hang Seng Bank operates 159 branches in Hong Kong.

Fair Isaac Launches ID Theft Protection Programs

Fair Isaac’s myFICO.com has launched a line of products and services for consumer identity theft and credit protection. The new “myFICO Identity Theft Security” comes in a “Standard” version for $1.95 per month, a “Deluxe” edition for $4.95 per month, and a “Premium” version to be released later this year. The “Standard” version constantly monitors over 400 sources of public data for subtle changes to a borrower’s personal information and includes identity theft insurance and a toll-free help line with personal assistance. The “Deluxe” version adds quarterly monitoring of the consumer’s “FICO” credit score. The “myFICO Identity Theft Security Premium” program will soon be available through certain bank partners and on the myFICO.com Web site later this year. The “Premium” product gives consumers all the benefits of the “Deluxe” product, but with the added strength of Fair Isaac’s “Falcon Fraud Manager.” Falcon minimizes fraud losses by detecting fraudulent card transactions in real time, then instantaneously alerting the customer.

Deutsche Bank to Offer AmEx Corporate Cards

Deutsche Bank and American Express this week inked an accord to launch a jointly branded “American Express Corporate Card” and “Business Travel Account” program. The product will be distributed by Deutsche Bank to its corporate customers in Germany and their selected subsidiaries worldwide, according to this week’s issue of CardFlash International. The combined program provides companies with a flexible payment solution for their employees and is designed to help corporate customers to better manage their travel and entertainment expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings. Earlier this year, Deutsche Bank agreed to issue American Express corporate cards to its own 66,900 employees. The expense management solution will be available to Deutsche Bank corporate customers in July.

Oklahoma Goes Mosaic Postilion for ATMs

Oklahoma-based Central National Bank of Enid has installed Mosaic’s “Postilion” software to provide ATM driving, transaction switching and routing as well as card management for a multi-bank network of ATMs/card issuers. Mosaic Software’s solution for CNB runs in a familiar Windows environment with multiple interfaces to core banking systems, to the Pulse and Star networks and various other systems. In addition, Mosaic’s Postilion system provides CNB with a highly scalable and open architecture that permits easy implementation of new products to be delivered through the ATMs. Central National Bank is a national banking association with main offices in Enid, and branches in Woodward, Mooreland, Blackwell, and at Vance AFB. Paymentech Lands Ticketmaster, HSN, and More

Dallas-based Paymentech beat four rival processors in the bid for the business for Ticketmaster, Hotels.com, Expedia and HSN. The processor signed a multi-year processing agreement with IAC/InterActiveCorp, the parent company of Ticketmaster, Hotels.com, Expedia, HSN, and Match.com, among others. Paymentech was the existing processor for two IAC companies, Hotels.com and Match.com. The new agreement has been expanded to include many more segments of companies within IAC, including Ticketmaster, Expedia and HSN. Ticketmaster sold 100 million tickets valued at $4.9 billion last year. Expedia is the fourth largest travel agency in the USA. In 2003, HSN generated worldwide consolidated sales of $2.2 billion. Hotels.com is the largest specialized provider of discount lodging reservation services worldwide.

Elan Introduces a Home Equity Card Program

U.S. Bancorp’s Elan Financial Services has launched a home equity VISA card program for financial institutions. Elan personalizes the home equity line access cards with the financial institution logo and can also provide full-service card production and issuance support or work with an existing card supplier to produce the cards. The only requirement is for the financial institution to establish a VISA credit BIN, which can easily be done through Elan. Not all transaction processors provide the capability to enable borrowers to access this line with a card used at the ATM or at major and local retailers. Elan offers a full range of ATM services to financial institutions and independent sales organizations including authorization processing, terminal driving and switching services.

Global Axcess Makes Third and Largest Acquisition

FL-based Global Axcess has signed a formal letter of intent to acquire a privately-held, independent ATM company operating a network of approximately 700 ATMs. The deal is the single largest revenue acquisition undertaken by Global Axcess, to-date, and the third acquisition this year. The acquisition will add approximately $6 million in annual revenues and approximately $2 million in annual EBITDA. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Nationwide Money Services, Global Axcess provides turnkey ATM management solutions that include cash, project and account management services. NMS currently owns and operates over 2,500 ATMs in its national network spanning 39 states and provides proprietary ATM branding and processing for 43 financial institutions with over 400 branded sites nationwide. The Company said it will be on track to achieve an annual revenue run-rate of over $20 million while producing positive cash flow, estimated to be approximately $4 million over a 12-month period.
