HSBC Deploys Vasco Digipass Security

Vasco Data Security software security company announced HSBC Bank Brazil deployed the “Digipass” for Mobile technology for an enhanced group of retail and corporate customers, while expanding the offered online and mobile services. Currently, more than 90,000 account holders use their mobile device to access all self-service channels to execute financial transactions. With this enhancement, HSBC Brazil is the first and only financial institution worldwide to fully integrate access to internet banking, mobile services, contact center, ATMs and e-commerce. By further integrating Digipass for Mobile, HSBC offers its customers a secure and convenient way to secure their online transactions. The customer downloads the Digipass for Mobile app on his mobile device to generate one-time passwords (OTPs). Every time he logs on, a unique dynamic password is created that, as a consequence, can only be used once. The client doesn’t need to remember multiple passwords with different shapes and sizes anymore to confirm and operate the various channels.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch Appoints EMEA Head

Helen Mason has been appointed head of Commercial Cards, EMEA, in the Global Transaction Services (GTS) business at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Mason will oversee product management, new business growth and account management for the EMEA commercial cards platform. Mason joined the firm in 2010 and has previously held positions at Citibank, HSBC, RBS and Lloyds during which she managed all aspects of commercial cards, including operations, sales, account management and implementation.

First Data Announces Merchant Credit Financing

First Data Merchant Solutions, First Data’s direct-to-market merchant acquiring business, announced the availability of its “Merchant Cash Advance” program. Allowing small and medium sized businesses that accept card payments to access an alternative source of funding to increase cash flow, “Merchant Cash Advance” is available to both new and existing First Data Merchant Solutions customers and provides a lump-sum advance based on the merchant’s monthly card transactions. The advance is automatically paid back through a fixed, specified percentage of daily card processing settlements with First Data Merchant Solutions. Because there is no fixed payment amount, during quiet trading periods the repayments are lower, further helping cash flow, while the reverse is true for higher-volume trading periods. To be eligible for an advance, merchants must typically process at least GBP1,000 per month in card transactions, have a good standing with their landlord and no unresolved bankruptcies.

Post Office has installed contactless payment terminals across 30,000 counter positions in its unrivalled network of over 11,500 branches across the UK.
