State Bank of India Deploys FSS ATM Upgrade

Financial Software & Systems key Payment Systems Integrator announced a landmark technology upgrade for the bank, having implemented and integrated ACI’s BASE24 transaction switch application ver 6.10. The bank also upgraded the software to run on the high-end HP NonStop NB54000c Blade System which will help SBI increase its ATM network from 30,000+ to over 60,000+ ATMs in the next two to three years. SBI’s ATM expansion plans will actively support Government of India / Ministry of Finance ambitious mission to increase ATM penetration in the country of which SBI has the largest contribution. FSS has furnished SBI with multiple upgrades to the transaction switch to scale and handle several thousand ATMs and have upgraded their debit card management and reconciliation systems from FSS to process the card lifecycle for over 100 million+ cards.

Fortumo App Payment Providers Supports Windows 8

Mobile payments is working closely with Microsoft to give Windows 8 developers flexible payout options for in-app payments. Fortumo was one of the first in-app payments providers to support Windows 8, launching its service just five days after the general availability of the new operating system. Fortumo will waive its commission for the first six months for all developers who integrate Fortumo’s billing software development kit (SDK) by May 31st 2013. Fortumo’s system works via mobile operator billing, wherein customers pay for digital goods via their mobile operator bill, a strong alternative to credit cards.

NFC Forum Launches SIG to Support NFC Implementations

The NFC Forum created the “Special Interest Groups” (SIGs) that will bring together leaders from the areas of Consumer Electronics, Health Care, Payment, Retail, and Transport to collaborate on NFC solution implementation, interoperability, best practices, and future requirements. With this, the SIGs will enable the NFC Forum to take a more active role in driving NFC solutions development, deployment, and adoption. Analysts estimate that more than 100 million NFC-enabled phones were sold in 2012 and close to 300 million will be shipped in 2013. NFC Forum membership is at an all-time high, and the organization has achieved major milestones in specification development and certification. Each SIG leverages the Forum’s alliance partnerships in that area, for educating the market on use cases; gathering business requirements to drive new or modified technical work; exploring ways to speed or smooth certification of NFC-enabled devices; establishing and managing liaisons with other groups to further collaboration efforts; and creating regional programs as needed.

Vipera Wins Italian mBanking Contract

Vipera mobile financial services has won a mobile banking contract to provide its “Motif” platform through a cooperation agreement between Vipera and the Italy office of a leading multinational professional services firm. The “Motif” solution offers a flexible and extensive mobile banking platform, which will allow the bank to offer its customers full access to their bank account details enabling them to make credit card and utility bill payments and to instantly transfer funds anywhere in the world.
