G&D Launches mWallet NFC Solution

Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) is introducing SmartTrust Portigo mobile wallet solution for NFC services and beyond which brings all the functions of an electronic wallet onto a common platform. Portigo is a framework that allows the deployment of various services. These services put not only various payment media, such as debit and credit cards, but also ID cards, loyalty cards, public transport tickets, and access keys for buildings and vehicles in the electronic wallet. Customers can use the applications for these services securely and conveniently from their smartphones. This creates brand new business opportunities for mobile network operators and suppliers of the abovementioned services, for instance banks. UMB Bank in alliance with Dynamics launched the “ePlate” credit card to allow brands, retailers, non-profit organizations or entertainers the opportunity to offer consumers a unique reward, or experience, they can only earn by using an ePlate credit card. When a company becomes an “ePlate Experience” Provider, they expose consumers to a “rewards offer” that goes above and beyond what any other company is doing. O2 Launches Chip and PIN mPOS Service

O2 announced a new mPOS in conjunction with Visa Europe and Global Payments, allowing retailers to accept credit and debit card payments simply via mobile technology. The new mPOS includes a low cost chip & PIN Pad accessory connected to the retailer’s existing Smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. A free eMerit app downloaded on the mobile or tablet manages the card payment transaction, and then sends the customer a receipt via email and/or SMS if required.

Vodafone Implements Gemalto Global NFC mPayment

Gemalto has been selected by Vodafone Group mobile communications service providers to provide and operate its global Trusted Service Management (TSM) platform and deploy NFC services solutions. This multi-year global contract will provide the foundation for secure and convenient ‘wave and pay’ contactless transactions via mobile phone, as well as for numerous new services that demand the highest levels of security and integrity. Key elements of the end-to-end solution that is being integrated by Gemalto include the Allynis TSM service platform and the company’s UpTeq NFC high-end card product. Gemalto’s solution will allow both Vodafone subsidiaries and third party service providers such as banks, transport operators and retailers to seamlessly plug into a secure and reliable NFC ecosystem.

Fime Expands GlobalPlatform Testing

FimeFime mobile devices and chip-based applications, has extended its GlobalPlatform test services to verify that a UICC product meets the functional requirements outlined in GlobalPlatform’s Contactless Services Specification. UICC products that achieve this certification will guarantee that a mobile contactless application performs in a consistent and industry agreed manner, regardless of the mobile handset which hosts them. FIME has been approved by GlobalPlatform to provide test tool and laboratory services which confirm that a UICC product meets the functional requirements outlined in GlobalPlatform Card Specification v2.2 Amendment C, also known as Contactless Services.

NCS Prepared for IRS Acceptance of Electronic Signature

National Credit-reporting System announced the expected fulfillment of the IRS’ commitment towards e-Signature of the 4506-T. The electronic execution method will improve efficiencies for multiple industries, including mortgage finance, credit card and insurance utilizing the company’s solutions, such as TRV (R) Services in evaluation of a consumer’s ability to pay. According to an IRS communication this week to participants in its income verification service, beginning January 2013, the IRS looks to allow taxpayers the ability to execute a 4506-T for tax return transcripts using e-signature technology. Consumer satisfaction is expected to rise as the 4506-T may now be bundled with disclosures eligible for execution using electronic signature.
