Chase Card Services now allows cardholders to use their ‘Ultimate Rewards’ points to use during checkout when using Amazon.com. Chase Freedom®, Chase SapphireSM and Ink® from Chase cardholders can now redeem one Ultimate Rewards point for one cent at Amazon.com, meaning 100 points can be redeemed for one dollar in eligible merchandise. The addition of Amazon.com Shop with Points to Ultimate Rewards expands Chase’s existing relationship with the online retailer. Chase has offered the Amazon.com Rewards Visa® Card in the U.S. since 2002, and earlier this year, launched the Amazon.ca Rewards Visa® Card in Canada.

Discover Fan Loyalty Poll Shows Women Lead in Team Spirit

The Discover Fan Loyalty Poll finds that women are showing more spirit than men when it comes to watching the game and wearing their school colors. In the third week of Discover’s national survey designed to gauge college football fan loyalty, fans were questioned on the depth of their commitment to their teams. When asked how important is it that they watch their favorite team’s game each week, 75 percent of all fans consider it somewhat to very important to tune in. However, more women than men, 78 percent to 73 percent, see it as a higher priority. When fans were asked if they regularly wear clothing or other items with the logo of their favorite college football team, 46 percent said yes, down from 55 percent last week. Once again, women showed more team pride when it comes to wearing a team’s logo: 58 percent of women wear it compared to 38 percent of men. The University of Southern California dropped out of the running after its loss to Stanford last week. Only 16 percent of fans said they would consider naming a pet or a child after a team, and of those who said they would, women leaned toward pet names while men leaned toward baby names.

Smart Payment Cards to Ship in Excess of 2.8B Units in 2017

EMV/smart payment card volumes increase with Latin America a particular migration hot spot in 2012, the U.S.’s impending move to EMV, and China’s migration to its PBOC 2.0 standard. Collectively these regions shipped in excess of 330 million smart payment cards in 2011, forecast to increase to over 1.5 billion in 2017. The U.S. now looks certain to migrate, although no official nationwide mandate has been set, mandates in liability shift from Visa, MasterCard, Amex, and Discover all support the adoption of EMV. Financial institutions in the region have been quick to react with approximately 19 to date committing to EMV migration. Citibank Launches Electronic ATM Receipts

Citibank announced a new paperless solution, allowing electronic ATM receipts delivered to a designated personal email account. Currently available on all Citibank branch ATMs, this eliminates the need for paper receipts and provides an easy way to track ATM transactions. Customers who make deposits and withdrawals through Citibank’s branch ATMs will find the new option on the transaction record screen. Customers can have their receipt emailed to a personal email address; printed with a copy of a check; print receipt without a copy of the check(s); or have no receipt.
