Citi and American Airlines Launch World MasterCard

Citi and American Airlines announced the small business-orientated “CitiBusiness / AAdvantage World MasterCard,” giving business owners two “AAdvantage” miles for every $1 in American Airlines purchases and a 5% “AAdvantage” mileage bonus on purchases made each cardmembership year. Users can earn two “AAdvantage” miles for every $1 of purchases on American Airlines and on business purchases at certain office supply, telecommunications, and car rental merchants; a 5% “AAdvantage” mileage bonus based on eligible purchases made with the “CitiBusiness / AAdvantage World MasterCard” during the cardmembership year, provided cardmembership is renewed. Also, the first checked bag is free for the primary cardmember and up to four companions traveling on the same domestic reservation for travel booked and ticketed on or after May 14, 2012. Additionally, cardholders earn an American Airlines Companion Certificate for domestic main cabin travel each year in which $30,000 in eligible purchases are made and when the card is renewed; have access to complimentary concierge service; and access to Citi “Private Pass” entertainment and events.

American Express Launches Mobile Offer Engine

American Express deployed its mobile offer engine to recommend and rank relevant merchant offers to US Cardmembers based on their own spending history and location, or “spend graph.” The American Express “My Offers” feature on its iPhone App (http://aexp.co/QyW) is the same convenient and secure environment where millions of Cardmembers currently manage their Card accounts. During the pilot, recommended local offers be will be concentrated in Los Angeles and New York City with an overlay of offers available nationwide at merchants like Baskin-Robbins® and Dunkin’ Donuts. This expands on the American Express “Smart Offer” technology, which powers the company’s card sync programs with Facebook, Twitter and foursquare and leverages the company’s closed loop network to connect Cardmembers and merchants in order to deliver value to both. For Cardmembers, this new mobile offer engine is a one-stop-shop to easily find, add and track offers and savings from American Express and its merchant partners – including those available through the company’s Facebook, foursquare and Twitter programs.

Fifth Third Implements NCR Mixed-Media ATMs

Fifth Third Bank partnered NCRand Phoenix Interactive to offer ATM mixed-media deposit functionality to its customers. The NCR single slot ATMs and Phoenix’ Intelligent Deposit software allow Fifth Third Bank to offer its customers the opportunity to mix up to 50 combined checks and bills in a single, envelope-free ATM deposit, and do so twice as fast as traditional ATM deposits that require checks or bills to be inserted one-at-a-time. The Bank is currently piloting the advanced-technology ATM at its Fountain Square headquarters in downtown Cincinnati with plans to begin deploying the functionality across its footprint by the end of the year.
