Ingenico Partners Visa to Offer Contactless Payment Option

Ingenico payment solutions deployed wireless terminals for the first program of payments with contactless Visa cards. More than 5,000 clients of the financial entity Cajasiete will now be able to benefit from payment with the “SINcontacto” card in more than 500 stores throughout all the Canary Islands. Cajasiete intends to extend this type of payment system to other stores and to more clients throughout the Canary Islands over the next few months. All the cards and stores which enable the use of this technology will be identified with the “Wave” icon to facilitate their recognition. Initially, 645 Ingenico terminals are being installed in more than 500 stores, providing wireless terminals belonging to the iWL220 family. Compliant with PCI PTS v2 and v3 for contact transactions or PayPass and payWave for contactless, the iWL200 range ensures the integrity of operations in every circumstance.

WorldPay Adds Discover to its Portfolio

Streamline card payment processing in the UK and Europe has given small and medium sized businesses in the UK improved access to Discover and Diners Club cards as a standard option to its portfolio of payments. This expands the relationship between Streamline, which is part of the WorldPay group, and Discover, one of the most recognised brands in US financial services. WorldPay and Discover initially announced the forming of a strategic alliance to increase acceptance in Europe back in November 2011. Through Streamline, WorldPay will now offer Discover, Diners Club, BC Card and DinaCard acceptance to all merchants and will support D-PAS, Discover’s EMV-compliant payments solution, as well as enabling chip-based terminals.

Discover Announces Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes

Discover announced a grand prize winner of the company’s 2011 Discover Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes, who was surprised with a check for $1 million as he stepped off the train at Chicago’s Union Station. Discover cardmembers earned one entry into the sweepstakes for every purchase or cash advance transaction made in 2011. The winner, Bill Kirkpatrick, is a 19-year Discover cardmember who won the grand prize award after being entered into the sweepstakes when he made a grocery purchase with his Discover Card on Jan. 9, 2011, in Northbrook. Discover’s Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes also awarded $325,000 to public schools across the country as part of the monthly prize in 2011. OTI Files NFC Patent Infringement Suit

On Track Innovations filed patent infringement lawsuit alleging T-Mobile USA sells NFC enabled phones that infringe OTI’s U.S. Patent No. 6,045,043. The suit is pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Case No. 12-CV-2224. The atent is part of OTI’s extensive intellectual property portfolio, including over 100 issued patents and pending patent applications encompassing product applications, software platforms, system and product architecture, product concepts and more in the fields of NFC, contactless payments, secure ID, petroleum and parking solutions.

NCR Deploys Interactive Teller

NCR Corporation began installations of its “APTRA Interactive Teller” virtual teller ATMs at Sussex County Federal Credit Unions. NCR “APTRA Interactive Teller” lets consumers talk to a teller over an ATM, even during evenings and on weekends. NCR will begin additional installations at other financial institutions throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia and other countries during the next three months.
