Report Summary:

U.S. credit card outstandings end-of-period (EOP) among the Top 4 U.S.  issuers gained 9.6% in the first quarter (1Q/17) year-on-year (YOY) to $396.7 billion. The YOY growth rate is down 130 basis points (bps), compared to the prior quarter.

The gain was largely driven by Citibank, as its acquisition of the Costco card portfolio from American Express has throttled outstandings among the top 4 . . . .
